Title: MilkyTracker playing my song at a higher pitch than I created it in.

I've been working on a chiptune remix of a song for a while now, but after taking a break for about a week, I come back to work on it again, and find that the entire song is playing at a higher pitch than I had created it in. I know it's not the right pitch because I can compare it to the song I'm remixing.

I tried to transpose the song down in pitch, but it says that 6 notes will be deleted because they are already at the lowest they can go. (The song is also at a faster tempo than I created it in, but that's easily fixed by just adjusting the tempo.)

How do I fix this?

Did you maybe save the song as a MOD file? If that is the case, and if any samples had a different relative note than C-4 (can be found in the lower-right corner in the instrument editor), this relative note setting was lost (MOD doesn't support relative notes other than C-4). In this case, working in XM format would solve that issue.

No, I only ever work in .xm format because it's the default and I don't know what the others are.

are you on a mac? it could be related to a problem from years ago that i remember having

are you using the latest version of milky?
that problem was supposed to be fixed in 2015, but someone's solution given even after it was fixed was to change the drive being used in options I/O-> Driver: Select Driver

so, maybe trying that would help

i also see that earlier in the thread i said i was able to play around with mixer resolution to get the correct pitch

anyway, this was 5 years ago and i don't think i've seen the problem since then, but i'm not sure how or when it was resolved, it isn't clear from that thread

edit: i just tried playing around in milkytracker on my mac, and the problem is still there
i think it might be cos' i leave the app open in between sleeps
anyway, for me the pitches are all lower than they're supposed to be
but i restarted the app and the pitches were correct
it might be that you composed the song while the app was messed up
and now you are hearing the "correct" pitches
so maybe you gotta redo it
