Title: Greating MOD files in realtime
Post by: woodwindblues on March 15, 2022, 10:30:09
Hello,

I am just getting into tracking, coming from a background of Max/MSP, PureData, ect. I was wondering, wether there are any libraries or players that allow for the generation of new patterns in realtime (generating the next pattern while the current one is playing) and/or allow for the adjustments of parameters for the playing patterns (tempo, effects, pitch...).

I would be grateful for any input!

PS: I'm on Mac OS...

There are some libraries that allow for live manipulation of certain aspects of module music such as the ones you mentioned, but certainly not with a focus on live-generating pattern data. Changing channel volumes, tempos and pitch isn't uncommon though (libopenmpt supports all of that). People use modules in live setups but typically the patterns have already been prepared for that, and directly use the tracker software they composed the music in.
