Title: New to the board but old from the tracking world
Post by: bpmbeats on May 07, 2022, 08:35:48
I recently dug into the vaults and pulled out some music I made back in 1993 to 2003, when I was using the Commodore Amiga 500 w/ AMAS digitizer/Midi Interface and soundtracker (I believe that was the 4track tracker I used back then)

Later on I used a PC with Fasttracker 2 and fell in love with it... towards the end of 2003 I remember moving from DOS and using one of the windows trackers called Skale Tracker which was very similar to FT2.

I played around with just about every tracker there was.. I remember liking the way Impluse tracker would playback MODS but I never got into using it to program music

Scream Tracker I never used much... but remember it well.

Other gear I had was obviosuly turntables (as a DJ) and lots of vinyl as well as some oldschool DJ samplers from the early 90s like the raw 12bit Gemini DS-8 which I still have and the legendary Casio SK-1 8bit sampling keybaord which I still have as well.

I lost touch with the tracking world after 2004 when I took a break from music and when I got back into remixing and producing music I had moved on to Native Instruments Maschine, and obviously DAWs like protools.

I currently use the Akai MPC ONE as my main tool but have been going through a lot of old music I made on trackers and have been playing around with a few trackers again.

It's cool to actually see forums like this still around!!
