Title: Not necessary to specify volume (and instrument) of every single note??

Alright so, I assume most of you are familiar with the track "Unreal Super Hero 3" by Kenet and Rez (if not, well! Do I have a treat for you: https://youtu.be/9STiQ8cCIo0 (https://youtu.be/9STiQ8cCIo0))

Anyhow, I decided to transcribe the song to MilkyTracker by hand by watching the YouTube video (above) and I stumbled upon something extremely curious (see attachment).

As you can see by the screenshot, both the instrument and volume are specified just once and —you will have realized by now if you listened to the song— both of these values are applied to subsequent notes.

Was this a feature from a previous version of MilkyTracker that got removed? If it hasn't been removed, how do I activate it? I hope you agree that not having to specify instrument and volume for every single note in your song would make things so much more... efficient.

No, this feature was not removed. What gives you the impression that this is the case? You can still enter 00 into the instrument column and that will completely remove any reference to the current instrument (that's just one out of many ways this can be achieved).
It's important to note that in the general, having an instrument number vs leaving it out is not the same thing. For example, If there's an instrument number next to the note, all envelopes will retrigger, but without the instrument number the envelopes will continue to run. This is why you hear those notes moving from left to right in the original song - the panning envelope just keeps running. It wouldn't do that if there was an instrument number next to those notes.

Wonderful! I have just tried this feature and it is exactly what I was looking for. Much obliged!

In answer to your question, I had the impression this feature had been removed because I did not know you could set a note's instrument number to zero —I wish tips like these were  in the Manual.
