Teh spider pwns :D I could do some great (err... no... not THAT great.) ascii arts if i could use the extended ASCIIs, but i can't use them in modplug and in a browser it wouldn't work aswell i guess.

In a browser, you will need to use "< pre >" tag to display ascii art, or else the browser will remove spaces and such destroying the formating.

And the extended ASCII is DOS-only, by the way, so it's not a wonder ModPlug will not support it. Besides, why would you, except for the nice shades? You could use Unicode to get the same result. Although you would probably end up needing to click a lot in a character map.

Lines can be drawn using most ordinary ASCII characters like, + - = _ | ! / \ X V < > ( ) U I L H and so on. And shades can be replaced with # $ & %. I do this all the time in my DOS programs. :)

Eagle, ModPlug has nearly the same (own!) font for comments as dos has. it *can* display boxes etc. Even Impulse tracker wasn't that near to the dos standard, coz it had to use asciis for the interface.

ModPlug can display those boxes and such from DOS because they appear in the Unicode standard.

And Impulse Tracker did not "had" to use the IBM extended ASCII. It could have used graphics like FastTracker II. But the programmer did use text for some reason, anyway. Perhaps for speed?

Yes, and maybe for compatiblity. But as far as i know, ModPlug uses a built-in font for the comments, coz if you load them in winamp or notepad, they're displayed wrong. :|

Never was any good at reproducing pictures and using shades..
I just found it fun to make containers for my song texts (this was after I already uploaded most to TMA so they were mostly lost when TiS and my old compy's harddrive died..)

I've seen some realy neat ASCII stuff recently, there's a neat demo from These guys (http://aa-project.sourceforge.net/) included with the knoppix disk (think it's on the cd and dvd). Definately worth a look. I will try and get the software up and running to have a play when I have time...
