Title: Man, I miss the heck out of Five Musicians
Post by: raveolution on April 16, 2007, 00:22:42
I was downloading trax mods when Necros, Basehead, mellow-d and WAVE were still putting out music, and then there was the group "Pinion", too. I'd throw in the boys who made the "Ur-Quan Masters" Precursors remix - that stuff is downright wicked sick - but their stuff is ogg format, not trax.

Is there anything out there that's even close to the trax classics? Maybe I'm downloading all the wrong things right now? :?:

Try Elwood, Warder, Awesome, Dr Awesome uh there's a whole bunch load of oldies which are very good.

It's true that there is less new stuff coming out in tracked format in comparison to the old days, as a result there is also less quality (and skill) in making the stuff mainly because those that can do good stuff tend to overlook trackers now, and move onto more modern forms of composition tool with relative ease and availability.

Back in the old days trackers were pretty much the best form of softsampler and sequencer in one! Nowadays, VSTs eat at musicians brains.

Personally, I'm a hardware-synth with PC sequencer guy when it comes to composing nowadays

have you heard any of beek's stuff (http://ftp://ftp.scene.org/pub/music/artists/beek/)?

He had some amazing stuff...as well as a few less amazing things....

He did a song called "Note Cuts and Fish Guts," which is one of his best (IMHO); though I don't remember where I found it...

edit:
....
sorry...
being slow...
