Title: raw data -> .wav batch conversion?
Post by: tinitus on May 24, 2007, 20:01:22
Hi, I'm new here, I use Jeskola Buzz Tracker and don't have much experience with other trackers. What I need to know is: I've got the classic star tracker sample disks (ST-01...ST-xx) from www.protracker.de and simply want to convert the samples from raw data to wav, for easy use in Buzz, without changing bit depth or sample rate. sounds simple but i have only found TONS of wav/mp3 converters on the net! please help, thanks in advance!

You need a converter that converts IFF 8bit sound files specifically, those are what the ST:-- samples disk's samples are as far as I know. I dont know any off hand, but adding IFF into your search criteria on Google might yield better results

Some of the recent packs can be opened directly as they seem to contain wav files. If you can wait a bit, I could try to write a converter (shouldn't be a problem, but I'm a bit short of time).

Well, isn't it just as simple as using a Tracker for this purphose? ModPlug Tracker can load IFF samples and then save them as WAV with no sample rate or bitrate conversion.

On another note, I'm working on touching up the goodie old ST-01 samples, so stick around and you may get your samples in 44,100 16-bit format and reverb and other things I've used to "boost" these old goodies. Of course, they remain the same samples more or less. :D

Of course Modplug can do this. But he asked for a batch converter, and that's something modplug can't do.

Not used the software for ages but I seem to recall that Goldwave (http://www.goldwave.com/) was quite good at batch converting between different audio formats (includiong raw data)...

CoolEdit can do the same thing AFAIK.
