Chip ain't samples. Chip is made. Make your own samples.

Check out the "chip techniques" doc at the Milky website.

Or I'll ensemble a small bunch of good chip samples for you. Although I agree it's cooler to make your own samples, but we all have to start out somewhere.

I'll bring words later when I have a bunch of good ones. Unless you would like some Pulse Dream samples (chip, but maybe not the kind of chip samples you want)? ;)

Oh yes, there are quite a bit of documentation around here, a very good tutorial written by Vhiihula/Analogik here:

The website of MilkyTracker hosts quite a bunch of chipping technique, or they did at least last time I checked. They may have moved them to YouTube, so try make a search there. Links:

http://www.youtube.com (http://www.youtube.com)

Then there's the pretty OK old tutorials I wrote some year ago or two about how you can apply cool effects on your samples. They work especially on chip samples.:

there's also that thing that I do....
step 1: drag non-sound files into the tracker
step 2: zoom in and look for something that looks like it'd make a good chip sample
step 3: copy and paste that one section into a new sample

repeat those untill you're happy with what you have....you can also downsample (in open modplug anyway?) to find interesting things...and then,
step 4: use this thing (http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/autotune.htm) to tune all your samples...(I have a tendacy to skip this step, (http://modarchive.org/view-songinfo.php?action=inst&query=756124ac00935f699f398c017f931ac2) though... :))

raw data files often does not fit for "classic" chip tunes which need pure square / pulse / triangle sounds. it *may* sound good, but it most cases, you won't find the original sound of a classic chiptune.
