Roll up, Roll up...
An announcement!
I began designing the Christmas theme back in July, and now it's more or less ready.
Sorry, you can't have a sneak preview :P
Anyway, just for a bit of fun, I thought I'd ask you guys when you would like to see the theme come online :) I may use the results of this poll to determine when I put it online (it will not affect the forums, by the way - don't want to upset our sub forum folks :)).
Make sure all of you vote!

bleh, i hate it when Christmas is already in summer (or at least, in autumn). ya know, all these christmas trees and all these Santa Clauses in the big stores... no thanks! :D please wait till December! :P
(Post 404! :P)

Having the christmas theme on December and onwards to perhaps early February or late January seems like a good idea to me. So let us keep christmas where it belongs, in December.
-
I have to agree and say December. Well, December 1st is ok in my view.
They started doing the Christmas chocolate box set things in the supermarkets about 2 weeks ago, and that's far too early if you ask me. The sell by dates on some of them don't go beyond the end of November!

I totally agree with everyone that has posted so far. I'm annoyed by how early shops start selling the christmas themed stuff and whatnot. Anyway, not sure if you knew but Christmas starts at a different time for some countries, such as the Netherlands - although they have now ADOPTED the 25th, which is a mere commercial event, the official real event (Sinterklaas) is on the 5th December, which is still endearing and a wonderful spectacle for the children to be part of :)

i vote for december... it's so confusing, christmas started at our local tesco market already! :D

December sure is ooking like the one and only! But I wonder, how early do you start your Christmas shopping? I know some people leave it until last minute (like me), and usually end up getting totally ripped off on prices... I know some people (my mother, for one) who collect ideas for Christmas gifts throughout the year. This isn't a poll question, I'm just interested :)

I have never really had much money to buy christmas presents, but the few times I have bought a present (or made one for that matter, I am quite a crafty lad), I tend to buy or make them around November or late October.

It's only a few days from now until Sinterklaas arrives with this helpers in the Netherlands on his steam boat from Spain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas) :)
Helpers, called Zwarte Piet.

The kids are all gearing up for all of the festivities that occur from 15th November up to the climatic day of 5th December here in the Netherlands.

I thought we Finns were considered hasty because of the 24th, Christmas eve, being the highlight of December here. It's cool we have a consensus on the site theme issue. I just wish it won't be needlessly prolonged after December either.

Luckily it has nothing to do with haste here :) :P
Christmas is rooted in Christianity, or something... it's a religious celebration. Sinterklass' origins are not a religious, or a religious symbol or celebration. It's origins apparently come from the visits of a generous Turkish trader many hundreds of years ago who gave presents to the children! :o The date of the celebration was around way before the 25th December-style-Christian Christmas was imported. Being that the Netherlands has dominantly Catholic roots, this is no surprise to me. :)
Do the Finns have a special sort of celebration on the 24th? It's quite interesting to know
