Okay, here's my latest tune, Psy Rain (http://sagamusix.de/download/psyrain/). It's my very first attempt at Psy Trance, imo it went out quite well :) What's your opinion?
The MOD version may only be played in OpenMPT (http://www.modplug.com) due to excessive usage of VST plugins :) It sounds pretty ok without them, though. You can always get the MP3 version which doesn't have this limitation ofc :D

Wow. :o
This sounds good! You've gotten real good you know, Saga.

Thank you for the feedback so far :)

Haha, I said that with a bit of irony in my voice. It sounds great, but it is still tracne, so... Although, yes, it is great tracne. Keep at it. :)

Remember, it's PSY Trance, it's not Tracne ;D Maybe I should have written Goa instead of Psy Trance, aight? :P

I'll strike you with a comment after work today. Just wanted to give you some time to prepare. ;)

Well, 'tis a day late but I was busy yesterday. Anyways, I can certainly say that you're improving; there's lots of neat stuff in the song but there still is alot of mixing flaws and sound balance issues. Any kind of trance is quite dependant on the sound so first of all you should get your kick out of the mix. Be it via a fast pitch slide, another kick sample, compressing, anything. This kick's really muddy, has too much bass and way too much frequencies around 250hz - sound pretty much like a drunken version of the earliest Infected Mushroom productions. The speeches are also way too loud considering they've got so much high frequencies. Other than that the mix is decent.
A bit about the melodical side; Very nice acidic synth lines and enough variation in them to keep the song up, but man, CHANGE THAT BEAT EVERY NOW AND THEN!? Gimme a break! Something! Variation!? PLEASE?! *cough*
So yeah, the beat gets really tiresome after 3 minutes. More breaks, more fills, more filtered sweeps, more something, more anything. You know I'm a fan of repetition but this went over the top for me.
Despite my rant, the song is definitely way above the average tracker trance, so good job.

Thanks for the comment. After concentrating on the bass drum, i can agree that it does not sound too great, although the base sample (sample 2) seems to be very suitable for goa imho. i also don't mind monotonous beats and i'm prefectly happy with the changes in the bass drum and snare at the end of every second pattern :)

I'm listening now -- a very cool track. As good as any dance track I've heard, although I'm way too old to know what the kids are dancing to these days. I'm always a sucker for those 808ish leads, so I enjoyed those moments.
My only criticism is more related to the genre than the actual track -- I tend to prefer music with melody and chord changes and the occasional break in the beat. Still, the production is very good. (I suppose Ceekayed's point about a bit of muddiness in the low mids may be right, but that's getting pretty darn picky and it's easily fixed in any case.) If I compared this against any commercial trance track, I'd probably like this just as well or better. I'm sure it would sound good in a club, but I haven't been close to one of those in ages.

Remember to rate this on TMA folks :)

Thank you for the link, m0d.
mrvegas:
I guess you mean the 303 leads (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_TB-303) which is a "bassline" and not 808 leads (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_TR-808), as the TR-808 and TR-909 were drum machines. :) Still, those 3 are very popular, many people mix them up ;)

Oops! Yes, even I know the difference between a 303 and an 808. Sorry.
