hi,
i think about buying a used HP jornada 680. Does Milkytracker run on this Platform without problems??
greetz
-
No, MilkyTracker will not run on this. It only runs WinCE 2.11 and got an SH3 CPU, which is not supported. Watch out for WinCE 3.0 or greater with ARM/MIPS CPUs, those will run MilkyTracker.
-
ok thx :D
-
and which jornada has this kind of cpu?? i cant find some specs i understand
-
Afair those handheld PCs:
Jornada 710
Jornada 720
Jornada 728
The other Jornadas either don't run WinCE 3, don't have a StrongARM CPU or are just simply PocketPCs.
-
k thx ... i will catch one on ebay next days ;]
-
k, i got now a jornada 720, but i mt didnt run -.-

You need proper PocketPC replacement DLLs, GAPI emulation DLLs and such since MilkyTracker is made for PocketPC and not for H/PC. But it works with the proper libraries.
Google for AYGSHELL.DLL and GX.DLL (GAPI) replacements for H/PC.
-
the GAPI thingy from Wincesoft.de doesnt work and crashes, but now with the 2 dlls it works thx...
edit: if somebody knows a better gx.dll & aygshell.dll plz post it here.
the thing from wincesoft.de crashes every time and the gx.dll i use works, but i can not select something with the stylus and typing songnames crash the tracker .-.-.-

edit2: found some and it works now all :D

Hello.
I read this 'tutorial' and got MilkyTracker to work, but its flipped , so i cannot compose at all (Turned to left by 90°).
How did you correct this on your '720?
Thanks for replies!

Is this the v0.90.60 release .exe file and if not, do you have permission to spread it?

You need to launch the configuration tool and play with the orientation settings.
-
Thanks, it was just the config-file and the DLLs. I did not need to overwrite the EXE. ;D
Now i can start tracking on my Handheld too :D (Milkytracker runs fine on my 200mHz laptop)
Happy tracking!

@pailes: The configuration tool somehow does not work (nothing than white boxes is shown)

It's all right.

You're probably missing the right PocketPC replacement DLLs.

This thread has been very informative, I know now that I need gapi dll and aygshell.
However, Im missing a piece of the puzzle. Is there a specific place on the Jornada 720 where I should put these dll and aygshell files?
As it is now, when I open Milky, I get the following error:
"cannot find milkytracker (or one of its components). Make sure the path ans filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available"
Thanks for any advice! -Elweiser
PS, Im excited for this new MT release coming out soon, any chance it will have support for a Nokia N800? Its a linux ARM handheld computer.
-
the windows folder in your root directory should be the right place, but actually placing the dlls in the milkytracker folder should work also.
If it's still bringing the same message you need something in addition, but I can't help you there.
MilkyTracker can be compiled on any *nix/Linux platform as long as SDL is available.
-
Thanks Pailes! I'll make sure everything is where it should be and let you all know.

I have milky running on the 720 now. Slight keyboard problem though.
Using the config file I assigned some functions to some keys, but the keyboard won't work to add notes in milky itself. The touch screen keyboards work fine though.
Any ideas?
-
You need the external config tool to set the option "allow external keyboard events". But those are interfering with the button assignments for PocketPCs, that's why it's not enabled by default.
-
Thanks again! I didn't realize till now that there were additional tabs in the milkyconfig file.
It took some poking at the bottom of the screen to get them to show up!
I won't be bugging you about this anymore, its working great! -Elweiser

No problem, that's what this forum is about in the first place. Glad you got it working.
