MilkyTracker Support / Re: Bad row jump

Actually it's a really easy fix!

In the center area of the info box located in the top left of the screen, look for the word "Add", it's under the words "BPM" and "Spd".

The number next to the word "Add" is the number of spaces that the line will jump after you enter a note. You can change the number with the "+/-" buttons next to "Add".

So, just set the number to "01".

This is a very useful feature if you're entering a kick drum on every beat, because you can set it to "04" and hold down "Z", you'll get the full pattern recorded extremely fast. Useful for many other things as well.

Hello, I'm wondering how to set the base note of an imported sample.

Currently, whenever I import a sample the base note is automatically set to F-5 and the fine-tuning is set to -28.

I usually sample in octaves of C, so I want the imported sample to have a base note of C-4 (or whatever octave), and I'd want the fine tuning to be "0" no matter what key the sample is in.

Look what I made! / Re: Chiptunes made on a DSI Tempest

Good to hear, thanks!

I've been making music for 10 or 11 years now. Mostly guitar-based rock. Fell into synths and stuff about three years ago and only discovered tracking in the last few months. I've always liked video game music but didn't know much about chiptunes. This whole site and many others have been hugely educational. I'm actually selling my Tempest now that I've found tracking and have devoted some time to learning how to do it.

Sampling / Re: PWM through saws
« on: April 03, 2013, 01:19:42 »
Thank you for posting this!

I'm totally new to tracking but I've been playing with synths for a long time. PWM was something I was missing from tracking, I made a bunch of samples of various pulse widths and arranged them to play in sequence but that was a tedious and not totally satisfactory way of achieving PWM. This sawtooth technique sounds much nicer.

Hello everyone, I'm still learning Milkytracker and haven't completed anything yet, but I'd like to post the chiptunes I've already made with my Tempest drum machine/synth. This is a Soundcloud link to a set of five tunes:

I'm having trouble trying to decide whether I want to stick to the Tempest and other hardware or go fully computer with Milky. I have to say I'm currently addicted to Milky tracker, can't keep myself away from it. The only trouble is the investment I've already made in my gear and the fact that I'd like to upgrade my computer if I were going to start using Milky for playing live.

This is also my first post in general so hello to all and thanks for listening!
