NitroTracker News / Re: NitroTracker is now open source!
« on: April 07, 2010, 08:40:35 »
Glad to hear it ( the job I mean, and the open source bit.)
I'm not a coder but I'd like to help out in any way that I can.

NitroTracker Feature Requests / chords
« on: April 06, 2010, 21:52:01 »
I would love the ability to play chords on that little piano keyboard, to hear how they sound.  It could be as simple as having a sustain/loop button that would allow multiple notes to sound at the same time.  I have managed to glitch it into doing this a couple of times on accident...Having used this program for a couple of years now I think this is the only major feature lacking.  Ok, well that, and the ability to select-edit instruments the same way you can select-edit volume events...

Thanks,

Devin

NitroTracker Support / Re: Typical tracker effects on the way?
« on: April 06, 2010, 20:32:56 »
I think I may have hit one by accident...one of the channels in my song is playing a little flat, maybe 1/4 tone off...I can tell because the track is doubled and I hear a weird de-tune effect from it...If I clear notes and place new ones in the same channel, they are also flat....and it carries across patterns, any note in that channel is a little flat...and it doesn't happen every time I load the song.  Weird, eh?  I also noticed a few weird events on that channel, like volume events by themselves, or a note playing sample #1 on the zero octave.  The song seems to play normally on milky tracker.

Hey! Tracker effects are indeed on the way. Many of them are already implemented in the player engine but not accessible from the GUI yet. I'm always happy about testers! Just PM me your e-mail address and I'll sign you up!

NitroTracker Support / same melody, different sample
« on: March 24, 2010, 09:06:44 »
Howdy,
I made a melody with a particular sample, and now I want to copy it and use it in another place in the song, except with a different sample assigned to it.  Is there an easy way to do this, or do I have to tap out that melody again?
Thanks,

Devin

Thank you so much for the solution!  I started freaking out from this same problem.  I think it started when my windows PC asked me if I wanted to fix the file structure on the card I'm using.  I said 'yes' and this is what happened...

NitroTracker Support / Re: How to save .wav

songs sound better when played through milkytracker, for example, which leads me to believe nitrotracker retains the original bitrate of the samples although the DS can't render them perfectly.

Yes, yes!  If nitrotracker could work with that little piano keyboard, I would be very excited.

switch between hex and nomal line code

I have to second that.  I know hex is old school but I get a headache counting in hex.

NitroTracker Feature Requests / more consistent selecting
« on: March 22, 2010, 08:23:08 »
In case a new version ever comes out...
I noticed sometimes clicking on an event with the stylus is enough to select it for copying/pasting/clearing, but usually you have to move the cursor over with the d-pad to select a note, but it's not clear when clicking with the stylus is 'good enough'.  Would like to see more consistency with that.
Keep up the good work!

MilkyTracker Support / trying to get volume changes to take effect
« on: March 12, 2010, 09:15:14 »
Howdy, I've been trying for too long to get volume changes from the instrument editor to take effect.   Pan and Ftune changes made with sliders work but changing the volume slider has no effect for this particular instrument.  Other instruments will let me adjust the volume, so I figure there is a command or setting somewhere in this instrument or sample that is overriding this.
I tried the following and was only able to change the volume for that particular pattern, regardless of shift, cltrl or alt -v.
D.

Select the sample you want, click Ins. Ed. and adjust the volume on the right, next to the Exit button. Note that any volume commands on the pattern will override this setting.

If that's happening for you, you can use the Ctrl/Alt/Shift/-V shortcuts to scale volume commands per pattern, selection or track respectively. Or, if you're not using the volume envelope for anything else, you can set up a constant volume, which the volume commands can't touch.
