MilkyTracker Community / Re: Where you get your samples from?
« on: June 29, 2009, 17:39:01 »
I sample a lot of old music, recycle it thoroughly and once it reaches Milky, it will sound very unlike the original.

If you're wondering what samples sound like, here are a few VERY popular ones that many people have used in disco house and such:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oroUUhhCxxI (4:17 is when the sample starts)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2N-wfQGrR4 (the whole damn thing, but especially 2:00 and the "i got the feelin loop")

using samples like this is kind of tough in trackers though, unless you find a specific hit and then keymatch the track to it and add more samples later

sampling vsts is also a great idea and fairly easy to do too.

Tracking / Re: How to destroy Tracker's Block (and other things)
« on: October 25, 2007, 18:05:33 »
my ways to destroying any block.

1) smoke a fat joint
2) play some openarena
3) work with a non tracking based music program
4) go through my record collection and record samples to use in future tracks
5) just hunt for samples in general
6) if you have an ancient video game system (or a wii with some VC games) play some oldschool games and listen to music for inspiration.

the key here is to get your mind off the music, but keep the music in your mind.

Tracking / Re: i... i think i'm late for the party...
« on: October 25, 2007, 17:57:43 »
Haha, which is why I placed a question mark after dead.

I wasn't really certain where most of the "community" was, I'm real new to all this, and after hunting around quite a bit, this was the only place with documentation which wasn't archived.
After learning more about the demoscene, i went to scene.org and noticed that it was basically dead.
as long as there is an irc channel with people in it, then i'll be happy :)

also what does everyone track with? i've been using milkytracker, and i like it alot. i'll post some tracks in a couple of weeks.

Tracking / i... i think i'm late for the party...

About 12 years late... or something.

tracking is basically dead? (i put a questionmark, for hope)

Look at these dead forums, the only rescources i have are from things dating 1997 and prior. Its so sad to see this community practically lifeless, as being a new user, i'm very excited to start on it. All i've been going through are old text files on tricks for tracking.

Is there any other forums, or chats or anywhere which is related to tracking, thats still active?

Ps. Milkytrackers is awesome.
