Tracking / sample tune
« on: January 09, 2011, 12:24:53 »
Hi all, I'm trying to make a mod pt compatible, and due to the short range of possible notes, sometimes I play my sample to much high.

I wonder:

What can I do if I want to pitch the sample up without ruining to much the original sound?

Best tool / engine / tracker to do this?

So far I tried with soundtouch and bass libraries, these last look to be better.

Thank you

The Lobby / succession to play sine waves
« on: November 17, 2010, 16:58:23 »
I've noticed many mod have some succession of waves which are similar each one other but not equal.

I wonder if there is something to read about it - a common technique or else -

Thank you!

The Lobby / speed command question
« on: September 28, 2010, 17:41:41 »
Listening some mod, I found some speed techiques, for example, in a pattern i found values like this:

|   .....F06
|   .....F05
|   .....F06
|   .....F05
|   .....F06

and so on...
what is the real purpose of doing something like this ?

Tracking / Your writing's and sampling's way
« on: September 28, 2010, 17:27:13 »
I'm just curious about your your tracking means.

First, do you usually use to record notes while playing or you just compose while all is stopped ?
About your means, do you use standard pc keyboard (without key jamming if possibile ), any keyboard device or something else?
I mostly wonder if some of the new composers that use products like modplug or milkytracker write at the same way of old amiga composers of the best years (imo of the very early '90s ), and also if there's some stuff that is definitely obsolete at this time.

And last, talking about sampling - I mean only software side -, there's a software you prefer?

For this point, personally I'm watching for fl studio, which have a lot fo nice samples and effects that can be used to post produce a custom sample.

Help Support Topics Archive / fixed my song
« on: July 31, 2010, 02:08:40 »
Hi, I would like to re-upload my song because of some effects mistakes due to conversion from xrns to xm format,
This time I'm sure it's right, so I'm sure I'll not go back on it.
Is it possible to repost and replace the original?
Thanks

Project / Coder's Corner / How wav is stored in XM
« on: April 18, 2010, 19:22:50 »
Hi all, for my XM development purpose I wish to know how a wave is stored in xm standards.

I ready several specs but I'm not sure what I do is right.

Is it right if I encode entire (header includer) wav with delta encoding and put in into sample data?

May I follow the little code sample here at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_encoding ?

And just one last question, does it works even for a stereo sample or I have first to split channels?

Thanks in advance :)
