Look what I made! / New Track -- Brother John (Classical Chip)
« on: January 29, 2008, 22:06:06 »
Well, since there aren't too many people posting their music here, I thought I'd put this out and see what people thought of it.  It's sort of a classical chip tune, about 3 minutes long.  The .it file is here (only 61kb).

The mp3 (slightly mastered) is here:

Thanks for listening.

ChibiTracker Bug Reports / Can't load a sample
« on: September 21, 2007, 22:11:54 »
OK--

I really like the looks of this program, but when I tried to load a sample nothing showed up.  Is there any way to just play the sample from the sample editor?

Thanks.

Look what I made! / Give a listen to your Moderator's Music
« on: June 19, 2007, 21:01:48 »
After listening through m0d's ahx files on the archive, I went and clicked on his outside website.  He has some really awesome music up there.  I downloaded several of the mp3s.  "Escape from Marwinia" and "Return to Marwinia" (the most recent ones, I think) are particularly good.

It's nice to hear a few longer pieces that work as a true listening experience.  There's a very, very high level of craftsmanship.  For those of you that require comparisons, I'd say it's sort of Classical meets Celtic meets Emerson-Lake and Palmer.

Anyway, I'm fairly certain trackers weren't involved much, if at all, in those songs (though I've guessed wrong there before), and that's why they're not on the archive.  Nonetheless, if you listen to them, you won't be disappointed.

(No -- I'm not trying to ingratiate myself with the moderator.  The music is really good.)

Look what I made! / Study For Strings -- Different versions
« on: June 10, 2007, 21:31:56 »
I posted the "chip" version of this about a week ago, and the reviewer (thanks for listening) suggested using better quality samples.  In fact, the original was done with commercial string samples, which I wasn't really comfortable posting in a mod.  The Mp3 using the good samples is here:

http://download.modplug.com/index.php?action=downloads&id=1618

If you like late-romantic style music -- Bruckner, Mahler, etc. -- you might like it, and I'd love to hear any comments.  (The mp3 version sounds the best, but is 8.5mb.)

There are two impulse tracker versions.  The chip version (27kb) is here:

http://modarchive.org/download.php/S/study-for-strings-chip1.it

Another impulse tracker version (3.5mb), using self-made mellotron-like samples is here:

http://download.modplug.com/index.php?action=downloads&id=1619

The reason for the chip version was to get a small file size and experiment a little with single cycle samples.  They are made from the university of iowa classical collection.

If you listen, thank you.  If you have a moment to let me know what you think, thank you even more.
