MilkyTracker Feature Requests / Speed F00?
« on: December 18, 2007, 12:10:40 »
Milky behaves differently with the effect F00 (Spd 00) command;

In fast tracker when you change the song to Spd 00 the audio engine is still running audio.
If you send command F00, then you can use down cursor key to manually play the track. This is a most excellent feature for live track manipulation and remixing!
Another thing,  If you throw a command such as Portamento Down (210)  on one track, and (F00) on different track on the same tick,  it will cause the portamento to keep dropping at  a steady rate relative to the last tick before F00 called!  This is yet another super awesome feature of FT2's design (however, if not used carefully, it can cause crashes! ;) ) Many of my songs use this to dramatic effect.  And they don't play right with Milky  :'(

Also, in the over head menu, you can not select Spd 00 with mouse clicks, you can only select as low as Spd 01.

My request, can we have a FT2 Spd mode implemented, that would emulate FT2's speed control idiosyncrasies?

PS: while i'm on speed.. Smoother Dynamic BPM Slider Adjustment, ala FT2?? In other word, while the song is playing back, use mouse to adjust BPM up or down without causing glitching!  This is detrimental to CHIP TUNE DJ Sets!

MilkyTracker Feature Requests / RECORD funtion in Sample editor?
« on: October 17, 2007, 22:42:33 »

One of the greatest features of FTII, was it's ability to sample from the Line/Mic input of your PC.  You could hook up the turntable, or the synth, and record directly into memory, edit, and save the sounds as an XI.  Effectively making FTII a powerfull sampler, editor, sequencer.

I wonder why this very valuable feature has be left out in Milky Tracker?

I have cool edit, and a slew of other editors.. but it greatly decreases the flow when working on a PC or Laptop, switching back and fourth.

When working on a PPC, it is even more desirable to have Record ability in the sample editor,  can't think of how many times I was at the Vinyl shop, previewing nice cuts on some WAX, with my PPC in my sidepack, just wishing that I could plug in my handy 1/8" headphone jack spliiter, and run a line to my PPC to cut some samples into Milkytracker!

how cool would that be?!!

MilkyTracker Feature Requests / Full MIDI I/O
« on: August 14, 2007, 05:06:48 »
[NOTE: Moved over from old forums  ;D ]

I'm really interested in expanded MIDI funtion in Milky Tracker!

For nearly a decade, I have used FT2 live, on stage. And About half of the tracks in the XM's I perform live are controlling my MIDI gear.  Tweaking knobs on the midi gear and tweaking the tracks/mix of sample and midi data flowing from FT2 comprises my live sets.
Sadly, I can not yet use MILKY to properly play back these songs, or use Milky on stage with out this super fundamental functionality.

FT2's MIDI out is HORRIBLE I might add..  It lags, lacks many features of even the most basic midi output, and it oftentimes does not send proper note off's,  but along with all the other idiosyncratic behaviors of FT2, I have just gotten used to, or worked around them.

I would LOVE to find expanded MIDI features/functions in the next release of Milky Tracker!

I envision the ability to build MIDI instruments with amplitude and panning envelopes, and the ability to send track FX such as, volume, portamento, arpeggio, etc, and of course.. proper note offs, to resolve one of the major failures of FT2's MIDI out
This would turn Milky Tracker into an AMAZING live performace tool!
Milky would be on stage with me at every gig!

I dream of being able to control my ATARI ST, my C64, my NES's, my gameboy's my sk-1's, speak n spells, and all the other wild MIDI instruments in my studio.. all with my tracker.

Additional MIDI IN functions

Support to patch the incoming Pitch / Mod wheel MIDI data to instruments Tune / Vibrato LFO's etc.
Support to patch incoming MIDI CC data to Instrument volume sliders, etc...

Can I get a witness?

FULL MIDI please!

Maybe I need to make a kind donation to the author of this fine program,  ;)

loving 0.90.60 by the way!!  WHOO HOO!!!!
