Wanted: Music for Projects / Request : Many much musics!
« on: September 01, 2009, 09:35:09 »
Hello, I'm Jayenkai, and I've posted a couple of requests before for specific projects, but today I figured I'd try a great big all-rounder.

Over at AGameAWeek.com, it's a pretty big project, and try as I might it's not always achievable.
One of my biggest struggles of late has been Music.  *Ack* Everything is sounding so blinkin' similar that it's getting really really dumb!

(Look back on Year One of the whole messy thing!)

Sure, I could hop on here, grab tracks, ask permissions, etc, but.. well, right now I'm in the last few tweaks of my current project, and I'll be posting it in about 1.5 hours time.  I need music, I can't come up with anything, and it's a wee bit short notice to be hunting, grabbing and asking permission.

Thing is, I ALWAYS do this!!
Every week, the music is the last thing to go in, and it's always the worst bit of my games!

What I'd like to do, if anyone's open to it, is to fill a huge directory on my hard drive with "They gave me permission" music that I can grab when/where necessary.
So if anyone would like to donate a batch of their tracks to help fill the folder, let me know.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Ta!

(edit : just before everyone jumps in with mp3s galore...  I'm after mods/xm/it/etc.. after all, this is ModArchive!  And preferably no crazy 16Mb ones!!)

Wanted: Music for Projects / Music for Vib-Ribbon-esque game.
« on: January 27, 2009, 10:31:24 »
To make

Rule #1 : Must be XM format.
Rule #2 : I'm using my own coded interpreter to figure out the mods, so no fancy stuff!  Start at one side of the mod, end at the other, and probably best not to keep tweaking the tempo!
Rule #3 : Blank no-notes trigger the gameplay objects.  01 for Red Square, 02 for Green, etc,etc.. (See included mods to figure that out)
Otherwise, this is pretty much the same as my previous Cowbell Hero game.

To play

Tap the cursors along with the music in order to avoid the oncoming blocks.
Cursor colour/order is in the logo..  And yes, I'm considering adding arrows!!

Release 1

Current release is here.  It includes one of my tracks, and 2 "From Aminet!" tracks because I only started the game yesterday, and had to rush things to get it onto my "AGameAWeek" site!!
If anyone can supply some nice mods to go with the game (make 'em, bang 'em in, give 'em a play!) I'd love to include a bit more in the next release.

By Friday?  Maybe?

Thanks all!

Wanted: Music for Projects / Quick request : Cowbell Hero!
« on: August 24, 2008, 18:05:31 »
Cowbell Hero!
Before I post the final version to my site (Tuesday) I'm just wondering if people might like to submit a track or two.
I'm looking for plain XM files, (nothing too fancy lest my coding buggers up the reading of it ;)) with Silent No-instrument "c-0" No-notes where Mr Cowbell oughta go.

And, small, too.. Say about 250kb max per xm.

You can stick the mods in the songs directory in order to test them out, and ensure they're at least vaguely playable.

Monday night for submissions (tomorrow!)
Sorry that's short notice, but A) I only started it today, and B) I've set myself a Tuesday Update day for my website (AGameAWeek.com) that I'd like to stick to.

Either way, even if no-one submits, it's still a nice fun silly game!
Enjoy, and thanks!

Wanted: Music for Projects / Super-quick music request
« on: January 14, 2008, 14:19:30 »
Today's the 7th day that I've been working on my Centipong game.
That means that tomorrow's the 1 week anniversary!
As such, I'll be releasing (probably) the final version, and I think it's about time I stopped using that "Only Temporary" track that I've been using all week.

Unfortunately, I'm a really rubbish composer, so only the title theme's been done.

So, what I'm looking for is an artist or two to contribute to this little project.
Just a few little mods that can play randomly whilst the game's going, maybe with a nice fade in/out between levels.. that sort of thing.
But to keep the filesize down (currently just over 2Mb) I'm also asking that the mods are about 50-100Kb each.

So, sci-fi/space/retro or whatever you think will fit with the game.  (if you want to rest it, overwrite "system/m004/2ND_PM.S3M" with your mod of choice.. Blitz can deal with incorrect file extensions, so it should be able to play whatever you throw at it, so long as it's mod/xm/it/s3m.

And, again, I'm after tomorrow (Tuesday 15th Jan) being the final release date, so asap!

Thanks muchly.
Jayenkai

(and if anyone feels they can do better than my quickly done intro theme, feel free!.  But quick!)

|edit|  And I should probably add, freeware game + done in a week = no payments!!  It's just for fun.. |edit|

Help me find that... / REQ : Something Egyptian, please!
« on: September 28, 2007, 15:26:22 »
Hello all!
I'm being extremely fussy, today.

I'm currently about 75% of the way through doing a remake of "Oh Mummy" from the 8-bit era, and for the past week or so I've been trying to come up with some music of my own.
The thing is, the game can last AGES, and anything I make becomes stupidly repetitive within about a minute.
So I had a quick glance through the archive, but found nothing of interest.

I have this track, which I found on my HD.  (I thought I'd originally grabbed it from Aminet, but googling it doesn't find anything at all! So.. Dunno where it's from!)

It goes well with the game, but again it's repetitive.

If anyone can suggest anything else that could be similar, but longer... Or possibly wants their name in the credits with something of their own, then I'm aiming to release the game in about a week.  So.. suggestions welcome.

Thanks :)
