Tracking / Normalizing Tracker Files
« on: August 14, 2009, 07:33:32 »
I haven't posted for a while, and first of all I just wanted to mentioned out ridiculously #$%$@ING retarded the password setup for this forum is. Good lord. Obviously they don't want you to actually be able to remember whatever obscenely contorted gibberish you were forced to enter in there.

Second, does anybody know of a program that will allow me to normalize several tracker files (IT and XM files in particular)? Its somewhat irritating when using multiple music files in an album only to have it change from soft and quiet to LOUD. I know there are programs such as MP3Gain which will do this for mp3 and perhaps OGG files, but I haven't heard of anything that will do it for tracker files.

Wanted: Music for Projects / BYOND Audiophiles
« on: May 11, 2008, 00:06:16 »
I'm not really sure if this fits within the bounds that the moderators are trying to set for these forums, so if they don't like it they can go ahead and remove it.

Anyway, over at BYOND.com, which is an online game building community, we're trying to setup a guild called the Audiophiles with the purpose of creating and teaching others to create music and sound for BYOND games. I thought I'd mention it here just to give people an additional avenue if they're interested in creating music for games. There are a lot more people with games than there are people who can create music for them.

Wanted: Music for Projects / Looking for Songs / Permissions
« on: November 30, 2007, 06:37:22 »
I'm working on programming a little game in the sci-fi 4X genre and I'd like to have some nice ambient background music to go with it (I have no budget and mp3s are too large anyway). I've found several songs that I'd like to use from ModArchive, but I couldn't find any way to get in contact with the authors to see if I can get their permission to use the songs. That's my dilemma anyway, and I hear its pretty common with this site, so I thought I'd take a different approach.

If no one can give me some pointers on how to get permissions to use the songs (or even if there's some reason why I don't need permission or its automatically granted), then I'd just like to ask if there are any artists who can recommend some ambient sci-fi themed background music that I could use for my game, and would give me their permission to use? I'd be more than happy to give you credit for them in the game.
