MilkyTracker Tracks & Songs / Re: First Original Composition

Thanks for the feedback. A question:

when you say "effects", do you just mean using the effects column? I already use it quite a bit.

MilkyTracker Tracks & Songs / First Original Composition
« on: March 31, 2009, 05:03:15 »
This is the first coherent and completely original track I've done. I've done arrangements of other tunes before, so I'm already fairly good with trackers in general. It's very dissonant in some places, I'm a fan of dissonance. I'm looking for criticism on the composition itself. Please be as blunt as possible, if necessary.

That's cool if no one's into it. I just thought it would be cool if there was a modarchive.org "official" station.

This one would be official, it would be the definitive station for what the community deems worthy to play. And it would be reliable, because it would not depend on just one person's free time.

Feedback & Suggestions / Tentative Idea: Module Shoutcast station
« on: March 22, 2009, 00:10:21 »
Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a community based internet radio station that played good mods? It wouldn't be a serious full-time thing, different people could host it at different times to accomadate different people's schedules. Each dj would play different genres according to their tastes. It would help aritists get publicity and make people more exposed to the mod scene.

I mean, how do you change the number of rows that are in between the highlighted rows? I know it doesn't actually change anything but it would make things easier.

Is there any way to change how many rows there are in a standard beat in MilkyTracker? This would be useful if you wanted swung eigth notes, like in jazz.

Tracking / Re: Tips on melody?
« on: March 18, 2009, 17:31:20 »
I always lay down the chord structure first, then write a melody over that. It helps to just get a basic idea going, then shape it the way you want with the melody. Music theory does help.
