Just to clarify.....8372 divided by 16 (bytes) = 523.25Hz so milkytracker plays a perfect C.
I have to admit Im a little baffled here  :o !!!

WOW! Thanks everyone. that is really interesting. you guys got knowledge!! i need to learn more. i guess i should just ignore it in terms of making music as long as everything is staying in time and in tune. so any C is always a teency bit out of tune in milkytracker but its such a small amount its almost impossible to hear.....(i think, lol!!) and loading the xm into modplug would correct that anyways i guess... thanks again, nice one...i love this shit!!

MilkyTracker Feature Requests / Full-screen pattern editor
« on: September 05, 2009, 19:24:04 »
Hey!!

milkytracker .... on the P.D.A.......

it would be nice to have the option to see the pattern editor fullscreen (ie. toggle hide/show ZAP,LOAD,SAVE,AS,DISK OP etc. [in 'main'] with a button press).

Will there be any more releases? if there are could this feature be included?

or....do I need to learn the code as its all open source now and all....

(I reckon the button should be underneath OFF and EXP.)

hehe!

MilkyTracker Support / Samples automatically finetuned?
« on: August 28, 2009, 14:23:32 »
Hey!

I wrote a bunch of loops in SUNVOX and exported them as .wav files.

I loaded them into milkytracker so that i could write simple square wave leads over fm synth (sunvox) loops.

All the samples i made in sunvox have been automatically finetuned to -28. if I put the finetuning back to 0 then the loops go out of time. Also they dont sound out of tune when at -28?!!
After I noticed this, I checked all my drum samples from sample CDs and they are mostly finetuned to -28 as well, although some are finetuned to -12...I didnt do all this fine tuning myself so im wondering - What is going on????!!!! Any ideas?

by the way all this was playing at 125bpm, speed 6.

OK, I found out.
such a novice, sorry...gettin there tho...enjoyin!

on a PDA:

1.)You click 'Rng all'
2.)You click 'REP' (under 'D' in bottom right hand corner)
3.)You then use 'Rstart' to define where then highlighting starts (or 'Rend' to define where it ends)

Ive got a sample that is exactly 128 samples long. I want to highlight from exactly 64 until 128 (from the exact middle to the very end of the sample)...
How do I do this?

Ahhhhh, O.K. I understand now. thanks matey...lovin the milkytracker, nice work

oh yeah and iphone is lame because you can only use your fingers and not a stylus..so, very innacurate if you want to use anything other than giant text in the pattern editor!

Just would like to say:

Milkytracker on the PDA is hands down the best portable music software out there at the moment and has been for years..
Use milkytracker to compose, then export xm files into a more modern tracker, add DSP effects, VST synths etc....beautiful!

the competition is

LSDJ: [Gameboy, PSP] cool gameboy specific sound, very limited sampling options, innacurate BPM, incompatable with other trackers so no export to renoise/something else with DSP effects

Nanoloop: [Gameboy, gameboy advance] this is a really really cool program..step sequencer, not tracker. rendering for sampling possible but troublesome.

LGPT: [PSP, GP2X] excellent program, clone of LSDJ but with more tracks, wicked effect commands such as loop offset and filter....very cool program for PSP, but incompatible for exporting songs (you can always sample by rendering output tho!- and in real time with live mode and track mutes, individual track render, solo channel etc!!!!)

GRIFF: [PDA] really nice sound, stupid piano roll -> lame, expensive, lame

SYNTRAX: [PDA] really great synth sounds, can sound awesome...piano roll = lame

By the way, keyboard is not necessary for using milkytracker!! use the stylus and the directional pad on the PDA for navigation. other buttons can be assigned to whatever (loop current pattern, stop, play song etc.) This is really nice way to track, very comfortable once you get used to it...whats all the fuss about HP jornada 720?, they are lame, only 51mhz...get something better for same price!! dont need keyboard!!!!

alright thats the end of my rant...phew
