I've been using MPT 1.16 for a couple of years now and for me it's the ultimate tracker.
But whenever I try to win some new tracking souls among my friends and acquaintances, I have to hook them up with MPT 1.17, because MPT 1.16 isn't downloadable from their website anymore.
As far as I've used it yet, it could go straight down the sewers.
It's terrible for someone who's used to the Fasttracker 2 colour and keyboard setup.
but I thought it's still only a beta, so we have to stay tuned for updates, I'd say.

Can I add these comments to my songs myself? Or do I have to wait till somebody else does it for me? Anyone?

Wow, you are probably the youngest member on TMA! Welcome in our midst. I was about your age when I began tracking. No, I think I was 11, so it's not too late yet to give it a try :)
Don't be afraid to post your songs here. You can use the comments that you get for improving your tracking skills.

Tracking / Remember that compo?

alright, I'll start. Here's my entry.
It's a riverdance-like track. The main theme is in 7/8 beat and the interruptions are in 6/8. I have used a Guitar, Flute, Violin, Strings and a Bodhran-suondfont which I found on ze worreld waaid webbe. :D

What about some dutch attention as well? I can translate the text quite easily.

Tracking / How do YOU track a tune ? (Walkthru?)
« on: January 04, 2007, 23:06:15 »
first you want to decide on the genre. Mine is easy... it's mainly reggae :D

if you download Winamp for example, you can tune in to loads of Shoutcast Livestream internet radio stations. They are ordered by style, so a good one is found easily. Tune in! you might hear remarkable things which you might want to try yourself! :D
You also might want to select a livestream from a genre you didn't have in mind to track in, but it might provide you with some fresh ideas for your original tune.

I also often start with chord experiments. I go to the Instrument Editor and press some random chords. I have done this a lot in the past, so I can predict pretty well what sounds right and what not, but that's a matter of experience.

Once I made up my mind, I start tracking the Chorus. I've tried to start with an intro some times, but the possibilities how to continue overwhelmed me, read, blocked me. But that approach might work for others.
When you have a chorus, you can work around and towards it.

Tracking / Compo Etiquette

Quote from: "the Deviant"
will it be tried again at some point?

well, why not turning this subject into a collection thread on which every odd-time-signature-track can be linked to help people find this type of tracks. A track's genre can be set to One Hour Compo, but you can't indicate that it is an odd time signature.
To help people find these kind of songs and/or to prevent people from downloading stuff that's not what they were looking for (too ugly/too difficult) we could link our stuff up here, or start a new thread.
so, to answer your question:
Yes I do think there will be more odd time signature tracking compos, but you'll have to keep a close eye on dates etc. :D
