MilkyTracker Tracks & Songs / Re: Hi ~ First time Tracking!
« on: January 24, 2008, 17:28:53 »
Have a look at the general Tracking board, several threads about samples there.

edit: About the playback issues, the first half is solved: XMPlay defaults to higher quality mixer settings than those of the original Fasttracker II and MilkyTracker, therefore you need to go to Options and stuff (right-click the main player window or press F9), then go to MOD and set Ramping from sensitive to normal. And while there, also change Interpolation from sinc to linear. That'll give you the overall same sound in both programs.

The off-tune notes (I take you mean in some of the 0xx arpeggios) are caused by playing the pretty long chip sample loop (189 bytes), basically a low sample, so high it's banging some of the original mixer limits and the tracked D#5 04 049 for example isn't what you actually get. It sounding about right in MilkyTracker is in fact a playback inaccuracy that will most likely be fixed which in turn will make your notes sound off in Milky as well. So, the module would also need a little fixing but maybe it's not important as it's your first one and you don't want to get stuck in it. :) Thanks for unearthing the issue though. :)

I attached your module rendered from Fasttracker II, the way it technically should sound.

Heard much worse first tunes, keep it up. If you want an accurate player, check out XMPlay.

Ok seems like pailes beat me to it but here's another angle:

It does exist in MilkyTracker as well, just go right-clicky on your sample view and select Advanced > Resample...

The opening dialog displays the current calculated relative note and other values. To downsample a sample by one octave for example you have to subtract 12 from the current relative note value. After this Milky readjusts the relative note (in instrument settings) to make the change as transparent as possible, so for .MODs, you want to go and set it back to C-4.

It's an Ft2 clone with many improvements but it doesn't extend (/break) the original file format.

Yes.

(Switch to the internal file browser (press "flip" in Disk Op or toggle from Config) and you have the option to save your song as .wav. Choosing that and clicking Save brings up the HD Recorder pane which lets you set the playback options and export the .wav.)

Clicking the top left corner of the screen should bring up the Quit dialog.

If you just meant exiting from full-screen to windowed mode, looky here.

Good arch overall. The heavy panning envelope (present right from the beginning) sounded like a little too much. The middle part with the plentiful piano action was disturbed a little by notes cutting each other and also I felt that part was missing some low freqs. You know where the drums come back in, I was hoping a bassline would accompany.

I could only get sound by restarting after checking the force 2^n box in config and restarting. Not sure what this option is though....
This is related to audio buffers and it's a sort of compatibility switch for picky audio devices/drivers that only work with powers of two buffer sizes. The box is likely to disappear in the following MilkyTracker versions as the mixer code (along with other stuff) has been refactored beyond the need for it.

I cant seem to quit the prog without it just going to a black screen and staying there.
This is a general gp2x issue and AFAIR it has been solved by gp2x owners. I remember reading about it in some gp2x software download site, in MilkyTracker's comments.

The unexpectedness of the touch screen is to be expected. No work whatsoever has gone into F-200 compatibility yet so it's only natural it isn't working perfectly. Hopefully this situation will improve in the near future. Once a team member gets an F-200 at the latest.

I know this platform is hardly likely to be important but if a good compromise between the f200 touch screen and buttons could be found it could work even better than it does on windows mobile. :)
Yeah, I know! :)

Ok i cant use any javascript on this pc so just whilst i remember....
(The chat is Java but) There are other alternatives. There are tons of IRC clients available for different systems you can download and use to connect to the chat. And multi protocol IM apps like Miranda, Pidgin or Kopete work just as well. Then you just need to connect to a server on EsperNet (cosmos.esper.net for example, more at http://www.esper.net/servers.html ) and join the channel #MilkyTracker .

We want to get Milky running on that thing, so pop on #MilkyTracker on EsperNet (you can use the CHAT page on the website) and we'll get things rolling. Mind the Chrimbo though.

There is a theme manager tool in the works.
