Just upped it for Herr pailes to grab. It'll be gone before you know it. :)

pailes said something before about not bothering with perfecting the old format importing as it isn't possible to support it 100% anyway (.pat can hold more than 16 samples, .xi cannot) but I wouldn't mind if the pitch issues were sorted either. Actually Milky is trying to detect the correct relative note for samples when they are loaded but the different sampling rates and pitches used in the default GUS bank for example are complicating things.

Updating the bug list for completeness..

Hidden? Don't think so, .pat importing is mentioned in the documentation. The pitch issues are known but what do you mean by not being able to use .pats as samples? Just edit the instrument key mapping, copy samples around or do whatever you like. Like if you want to use sample 3 from a patch, use the Copy instrument/sample dialog (instrument editor -> Copy) to copy that sample into sample slot 0 of another instrument. Is this what you were after? Another way would be to load it as a raw sample and just crop out the instrument headers and unwanted samples.

MilkyTracker Feature Requests / Re: Multiple audio outputs?
« on: September 15, 2007, 14:15:10 »
aerobaby, last night at the gig I was just thinking about that live tracking thing we were planning since like the beginning of time. With Milky it would (and WILL) already be cooler thanks to being able to simultaneously play and edit. Your idea would enhance live use for sure but before that can happen, MilkyTracker first needs to become aware of the audio devices available in a system because currently it only uses default devices. This has been discussed and is likely to happen. Maybe it's time to discuss multiple outputs after that.

Help me find that... / Re: A 4 channel techno .MOD
« on: August 28, 2007, 10:25:04 »
Cool to hear the original where the sample came from but this is not the song I'm looking for (nor are the n^10 .MOD covers or remixes). As far as I can remember, the two songs share no more attributes than this one sample. So, no, the main sequence from the Antico song is not included. I seem to remember another bit of information about the missing module: there was this whip sound that in some parts of the song played in between bass drum kicks. Sorry, I know it's vague but I really want to find the track. (Last night I checked out about 1000 "freedom" and "night" mods manually with no success. :P )

Help me find that... / A 4 channel techno .MOD
« on: August 25, 2007, 22:08:10 »
Looking for a pretty aggressive techno module that might or might not have the words "freedom", "hardcore" or "night" somewhere in the title or smptexts. I'm thinking it must be pre-1993 because that's about the time when I remember first hearing it (and recording it on a cassette tape). The song got its aggression from the usage of pulse wavey samples for the main sequences, heavy gating and shouted vocal samples.

I've tried searching the TMA obviously but I've only found mods that share a vocal sample from the module. If you take a look at freedomremix.mod, the shared sample is number 2. Being the clever chap I am, I noticed the song is a remix but the song I'm looking for isn't the one that was remixed. (I seem to have a freedom.mod on my hd from my past search attempts which sounds like it was used as the base for the remix but which in turn sounds like it was sampled from a commercial song. Phew!)

Ok, getting a little side-tracked here.. The point was and is: "Have You Seen This Mod?" If you recognize it, please let me know.

I think I in fact did understand what you meant. To answer your question simply: no, it's not possible. At least not at present time. So I thought I'd try to help you out there. Although my reply was a little wandering I acknowledged what you were after and gave two hints. The first one was about easing arpeggiating by using another method that has its pros and cons but which effectively removes the need for the conversion and the second was a link to a web tool that does the conversion part nicely, all you have to do is enter the parameters in the tracker.

Maybe I should have not have replied at all because this was posted in the feature requests board where it alone does the job of requesting a feature. It was the question form of the post that tricked me into trying to help.
