Look what I made! / .forever eternal. -- the prophet returns?
« on: August 18, 2009, 22:38:06 »
Greetings. I have returned after an extensive absence... but for how long? Will anyone ever know?

Regardless of whether you remember me or not (answer: not), I've done this at least once in the past and recieved some excellent feedback... time for a sequel, then, is it not?

Just yesterday, I "finished" a piece I have been working on for over a year now: .forever eternal. - a trance track, spawned from a melody formed in my head long ago that simply would not leave. It is perhaps my best effort to date, yet regardless I'm open to any feedback or suggestions of improvement. I have a bad habit of missing spots or releasing tracks in a rather "rough" stage. Forever is my baby... I don't want to see it fully emerge into this chaotic world until it's absolutely ready.

I do admit I committed a grave injustice the last time around, however. Despite all the wonderful advice, I did not so much as even drop a mention in the song text. I feel like I must apologize to Ceekayed in particular: without your advice, Tribute would have been dead in the water. This time, I will be sure to give credit *somewhere* for the eventual release. ;)

Until next time...

P.S. Bonus track: .a channel for mag. - a novelty, done in only one channel. Enjoy?

Tracking / Time Spent on Modules

Ah, it seems that I've fallen into the more "rare" category, for I take *far* too long to finish anything. "Tribute to Xerxes" took me weeks of tweaking until I finally got it right and even simpler things such as "Elements" take a few days at least. I've noticed a bit of a lack of inspiration lately, however. Maybe one of these days the problem will solve itself...

All right, sorry to keep you guys hanging on the Xerxes Tribute, but I've got plans for it... to put it simply, it is now complete but will be put to use very soon. ;)

So therefore, in an attempt to shed some light on recent works and avoid repetitive threads, I'll continue my musical ventures onward in this discusstion. Anyway, after "Tribute", I felt like unwinding and working on something more fun. "Elements" is the result, and I've got sort of mixed feelings. At times I love it, but others I hate it. It's very simplistic, purposefully, concentrating on the music instead of "trivial" things such as sound quality and panning. A throwback to the old days of tracking, to put it simply. Is this worth uploading at all, or does it still need work?

Discuss.

Thank you very much for your feedback! I didn't find it harsh at all... and in fact, I believe that your words have set the song back on track. I've taken all your suggestions into account, and after quite a bit of reorganizing, I think that (while still unfinished) it's at a much more workable level. Now, before I get too far, let's see how much of an improvement this may be...

I was kind of hoping you'd respond this way, as well. Thanks to your guidance, this beast has improved greatly. Besides, after "Silent Psychology", your word is the next best thing to that of Xerxes himself. Amazing, I say. ;)

Either way, I'm still not finished. Any specific suggestions or should I just press on from here?

[EDIT] While the original thread dealt with my Xerxes Tribute song, I have expanded it to be a general discussion of my newest WiPs and ReLs. Stay tuned for non-regular updates. Original discussion as follows...

While listening to Xerxes, inspiration struck at random. However, after I began composing this tune, it left me as soon as it came. I am at a loss here and have no clue where to go. I am posting an unfinished edition for feedback. Could any kind soul lend some criticism or suggestions?

I apologize for the free host. I seriously need some decent webspace...

Tracking / Samplepack compo: Propaganda 2006
« on: February 03, 2007, 07:14:05 »
Congratulations to Ceekayed for the absolutely amazing piece. At first I was convinced you had cheated until I checked the samples and had to face the truth... ;)  And do I hear a bit of Xerxes influence, possibly? At least, that's the first thing that came to mind.

Also, rather shocking revelation as well, Mach Five tying for #2? Rather surprising for such a hack... either way, a pretty fun compo for no general reason. Perhaps I should stay tuned for more participation attempts... ;)

The Lobby / Introduce yourself - Zero Prophet

Why, oh, why am I here? That's a question for another time...

To summarize what I have not stated in the first place, I have followed the footsteps of a friend and discovered this site against all odds. Yes, I track, but my ventures are few and far between. I am picky in a way I cannot fathom and refuse to contribute any sub-par efforts. Thus, my artist page will sadly remain near-empty for the time being. If a single soul cares, that may change.

If Xaser re-appears, tell him I said hello.

I hereby wish the masses the best of luck in deciphering my cryptic posting style. Even I cannot determine its meaning half the time. ;)
