It's plausible that you accidently hit the new topic button rather than the reply one. As you can see, the 2 threads are again 1.

Tracking / Is there a different way besides modplug...
« on: October 28, 2006, 14:06:01 »
I must voice an opinion on this because a) mods should be composed in trackers and b) midi should stay in it's own realm. Screw converting. It only makes for shit sounding modules.

:grinno:

However, I have no qualms with people using midi input to enter notes into trackers, or load a small sequence in to post-edit within the tracker itself, but please for the sake of the modscene, don't become one of those people who think it's cool to release MIDI converted to modules.

Please note that this is just a personal opinion.

Feedback & Suggestions / [Rejected] Uploading files from servers
« on: October 12, 2006, 15:23:57 »
You have a knack of suggesting stuff that requires a heck of a lot of work to make secure ;)

There is a real issue because the owner of the server is not OK with allowing outgoing sockets to be opened from the server to another outside machine.

I'll keep this suggestion in mind nevertheless.

Tracking / Compost 9th August Results
« on: August 10, 2006, 12:22:57 »
A month's notice in advance wasn't enough? I was a big miffed to say the least at the number of people that didn't turn up that said they would.

It was a waste of an evening for me, to be quite honest. The mood wasn't good, I could tell the folks that did participate didn't really enjoy it, so I'm not sure i'll bother pre-arranging one again if this is the sort of support I get for my (and their) efforts.

I suppose the lack of people could also be put down to the over-saturation of compos, especially ones that are almost daily in #mod_shrine (that said, I have also noticed they have had no compos in the last week).

Tiny compo, hardly anyone was active... must be the holidays.

Congrats to s-go for the winning place, and well done to all those that made it to enter

The Lobby / Converting XM/MOD to MIDI and using as ringtone??
« on: July 31, 2006, 06:55:48 »
I just don't think this is possible unless the XM is using some really basic sounds that can be "mapped" to  standard General MIDI. Modules are container files with their own sounds carried within the file, unlike General MIDI, which uses a standard table of 127 instruments built into the General MIDI playing device, not the MIDI file.

Good luck :)
