The Lobby / Is FM Synthesis really that hard to program?

I am into playing around with hardware synths.  Right now, I only have a Korg DSN-12 (for the 3DS), a Korg M01D (also for the 3DS), and some VSTs.  I originally thought of getting a Korg Minilogue or a Waldorf Blofeld for my first hardware synth, but I found out that FM synths such as the DX 7 and TX81Z are cheaper than these.  However, I heard that many of these FM Synths are hard to program.  The only FM synths I know that are easy to program are the Korg DS-8, Yamaha Reface DX, and the Korg Volca FM.  The problem with these is that the DS-8 is not that unique (maybe limited) and lacks a sequencer, the Reface DX is 4-op with 4 voices and lacks a sequencer, and the Korg Vocla FM has 3-voices (fortunately has 6 op). Any suggestions?

I am specifically talking about Open MPT.  I am not sure how to use another patch from the same plugin for another instrument.  I am using SQ8L so I can decide if I really want to make music on an Ensoniq ESQ-1.

So you know that Scream Tracker 3 can use FM instruments, right?  I was amazed to find out that Scream Tracker 3 can use samples and FM instruments at the same time.  I wonder if Open MPT can play S3M modules with FM instruments.  If not, it needs that support.  I don't want to have to use Scream Tracker 3 on DOSBox or FreeDOS.  The only alternatives I have are to either use VSTis or make samples from FM sounds.

The Lobby / What do you think of the Korg synthesizers for DS and 3DS?

I am going to buy Korg DS-10 plus, Korg M01D, and Korg DSN-12.  I have some VST synths, but I also am looking forward to make music using these DS and 3DS synthesizers.  Korg DS-10 Plus is the same as Korg DS-10 except that it has additional DSi Compatible features.  Korg M01D is an emulated version of the Korg M1 synth with all M1 samples plus some new samples.  Korg DSN-12 is an analog synthesizer and oscillator for the 3DS.  Unfortunately, Korg DSN-12 does not come with any pre-made samples as you cannot make samples in Korg M01D.  Another flaw is that you can only export them as MIDI and not WAV, but they're still excellent.  Do any of you make songs with them?  What do you think of them?  I heard they have a fanbase.
