MilkyPlay / Re: can someone do mod player for my pocket?
« on: July 13, 2007, 19:13:58 »
of course, the command line works, but i think i would have to write a parser for my M3U first (which is really easy btw) and it would still take much time to convert the mods into wavs and then into mp3s, even if done automatically... and it would also not the best solution coz i remove silence normally in the wav editor..

Just get a cheap MP3 player (they're all cheap nowadays) and convert your MODs/SIDs/XMs/whatever to MP3 format.  You'll save yourself a whole bunch of hassle.

hehe, i'd rather like an 1 GB mod player than an 1 GB mp3 player... My 1gb mp3 player is already full, but that aren't much tracks in comparison to the content of an mod player.. :) and converting all my mods to mp3 would take faaaaar to much time :)

The Lobby / Mod's usable in a hosting program?
« on: June 29, 2007, 17:17:57 »
In some way, you can call MODs advanced MIDIs. However, that's not completely true. While MIDIs are made with a Sequencer, MODs are written in a Tracker. That are two totally different concepts.
However, Like MIDIs, MODs are not streamed Media like MP3, WAV or OGG. These formats are played... well... in a stream of data which represents the shape of the sound =) MIDI and MOD however consist of instructions. These instructions could be something like "play the middle C on the piano at half volume". I won't go deeper into the differences between MIDI and MOD for now. Howerver, the greatest difference is that MODs contain samples, mostly WAV samples. So your playback does not rely on the listener's MIDI hardware, MODs sound the same on virtually every machine. :)
To answer your question: MODs are not compatbile to Fruity Loops or whatever, you would have to convert them to MIDI which means a great loss of quality. Another problem is that this process doesn't work always as MODs have special commands that can't be reproduced in a MIDI file.

I have to agree, "Achemd the turk" is a really nice tune :)

Look here, Ghidorah is even registered at the forum, you could contact him via ICQ.

Help me find that... / Some songs I'm after

You could look for the demos at Pouet, they have all these demos. Those are Amiga demos, aren't they? You could download the demos and the ultimate amiga emulator (WinUAE) and record the output, if you just want the mp3s anway... ;)
