MilkyTracker Community / Milky Tracker t-shirts (and donating?)
« on: July 08, 2013, 14:22:52 »
If there was a Milky Tracker t-shirt, I might buy one, but I am also thinking of donating, because I did buy FT2 many years ago. However, the donation page goes to a German page. I guess I will just send it manually in PaPal.

The Lobby / Re: actual Indian-based Goa trance?
« on: July 04, 2013, 09:56:32 »
hey, u shud checkout this indian artists called - Neological Vibration

some very nice progressive psytrance with many tracks such as Solar Dreams have indian string instruments psychedelically mixed in!

https://soundcloud.com/neological-vibration/

Thanks.

He was asking for tracked Indian-based Goa though, not Indian Goa in general, that's easy enough to find...

Perhaps, though I have found less than 10 musicians/groups who have done any... I did first look for any whether tracked or not, and it would be interesting to see more tracked Indian instrument-based Goa.

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: module names questions
« on: March 06, 2013, 14:22:14 »
I said I uploaded new versions of (my) modules; obviously I was not talking about replacing somene else's modules, which I think was crystal clear in my first post.

So, there is no way to rename these modules that had numbers added on to them, back to the old module name? What can people do, keep uploading new versions? If I do that just to change it back, what will you do, and why has this not been addressed, if you know people will do this and you have to change it manually? It was not I who chose this number for the beginning of my module names, and it should not be forced, but admins should not be forced to change it either.

Is it actually now that I had a module with one name and it is deleted, its name is banned, like TiS may do, and the new one with the number has to have the number on the front of its name? If that is how it works, I can see how you sort of set it up like a version system.

However, I think it is important to have a way to update modules, rather than just having all this 'web 2.0' stuff. Most of my modules need work. The ones I did re-upload had minor changes--mostly/all just important corrections, which should be allowed. If I uploaded something drastically different, like a  'version 2' with much added, I see why you might want to keep a different version, but then of course I would call it a different name anyway and it would not have the number added to the beginning.

However, what if someone also wants to update their contact info, etc., in their modules?

I think my original concern was not understood and was avoided, which is why I got into all this rambling and speculation. It is not that I have any more that need musical corrections, but name corrections (getting rid of those numbers TMA software added to the titles, because as I think I clearly said, at the time they were uploaded, I already had modules of those names) and updates, and I want to change all my module names in the future to a more uniform and format (and hopefully more musically clear names,) which I have not decided yet.

I forgot my forum password and now cannot add the security feature I just saw, to let me recover my password, etc. What should I do? I still have my password saved in my web browser, but if I lost its profile, I would not be able to login. I tried everything I thought it could be.

The Lobby / actual Indian-based Goa trance?
« on: March 04, 2013, 03:12:25 »
Does anyone track actual Indian-based Goa trance, i.e. with Indian instruments such as sitars? I do. It seems most so-called Goa trance that is available outside of Goa is better called Israeli or Teutonic trance, in most cases of which it really has little/nothing to do with Indian music. I am aware of several professional musicians and groups that make Indian-based Goa trance, but are there any other trackers who do so?

BTW, all my best music of this style is only at Trax in Space for now. Before I upload here, I wait to try to finish a tune, and see if a few people like it, and decide what I want the module name to be.

Feedback & Suggestions / module names questions

A couple times when I uploaded stuff, apparently because I uploaded new versions, numbers were added to the beginnings of my modules. Is there a way to upload new versions without that happening. Also, is there a way to rename modules to get rid of these numbers, or just to change the name if one wants?

Help Support Topics Archive / torrents not working
« on: December 08, 2012, 01:04:12 »
I tried to download the sound sample torrents, but it says 'tracker gave error: unknown peer.' I saw I was listed on the torrents' page as a 'leecher,' but my speed and everything was zero.

MilkyTracker Feature Requests / Re: IT functionality someday?
« on: May 24, 2009, 05:45:33 »
Nice to know I'm not the only one thinking about this.

Do you mean Milkytracker ditching XM and going to IT, or being able to support IT and XM?  It sounds like the second, which would be awesome.  But, wouldn't there need to be an extensive overhaul on the UI for IT features?  And, a compatibility check, like the MOD export.

Sorry I missed your post... or was thinking about it for long.  I did not necessarily mean either of your options.  IIRC IT2 loaded XM; it just would not save them.  If MilkyTracker, like ModPlug or MadTracker, were to load XM I do not think it would have to not save XM.  Saving in XM should probably still be enabled, but then it may need a separate FT2 and IT2 mode.

That is fine if it is not in the current scope of the project, but what about in 5 - 15 years?  MilkyTracker is so great that people should want it to be the best tracker, but to do that it should at least be like the best 2nd gen. tracker and be the basis--in the code or team--for a later generation one long in the future.

Help Support Topics Archive / text not showing up right?
« on: May 21, 2009, 10:43:50 »
In one module I uploaded recently (dar-gc44.xm) I suspect text is not showing up properly on the page I looked at when I was trying to find out where to add some info about the track (style, etc.)  It was just a page that showed all the text in the module.  I wrote my URL in it but the 2nd line of it does not show up, which is: ~dchmelik/.  I wonder if I forgot to add that or if there is a problem with the displaying pages.

I also did not see where to enter the style of a module... I guess I will find it later.
