Tracking / Re: Tracker with additional music-sheet interface?
« on: March 05, 2019, 10:31:14 »
I can survive typing ideas into music sheet and then manually, write it in a tracker though. - EDIT: thinking of it, may be even better since I get too lazy to change around notes and note-offs.

This is only a thought, that maybe someone else see the beauty in.

Tracking / Tracker with additional music-sheet interface?
« on: March 05, 2019, 10:25:04 »
Somewhat desperate for such feature.

Now, why this?
I thought that it could be another way of tracking, where notes are typed into a sheet, and then with the normal tracker-interface, add effects and the other typical tracker stuff.

Actually, the main question: Is there a sheet music sequencer with the engine of a tracker?
Love that you can import the samples you like, make instruments out of them and then use them for music. Would be amazing if there was the same principle but for use with sheet music composing.

Help Support Topics Archive / Re: Can't upload 20MB .zip

Hm... Limit is at 25MB, so it isn't exceeding that. Have no idea, either Saga Musix or any of the other operators knows.

If RAR was supported, it would've been stated under requirements-tab (which it isn't). So yeah, works only with ZIP.

Thanks for the spotlight.

I agree deeply with spotlighting Psirius. He knows how to catch emotions in music :)

Hm, those doesn't sound familiar to me, so I haven't screened those.
Different screeners have different standards and there is no such thing as an objective standard to meet here. Sometimes a module slips through though I also have no explanation for how e.g. panicrace.mod made it into the archive.

Sound samples of how it sounds
is music-previews of a module I created in 2013 using this volume-envelope and when OpenMPT 1.22 was the latest version. It worked at that time

(Notice how the guitar sounds in the previews)
The sample "how it originally sounded" is the module played in it's right version of OpenMPT; 1.22. The sample "how it sounds now" is the same module played in the current version of OpenMPT.
I don't know if it was a bug or not, either way it was changed not so far after in a new version of OpenMPT, then it started sounding tah-taggatagga (the jump-to-full-volume release making an apparent visibility in the distortion plugin) instead of tah-tam-tam.

Then, maybe I should report it on the issue tracker?

Btw I'm not sure how the version numbers of a program work. I know it has to do with the release periods of the program, but I want to make improvements which I know doesn't have a chance of making a big mess that I need a backup to revert to.

When adding a feature in a x.x.x system, which digit should count up?
(The feature is a forgotten question asking about repetitivity)

I call it TMA Screening Wizard, and has so far just been invented (it's in alpha 1.0.0).

The tool is created for helping getting rid of decision-dilemmas, where you answer a bunch of music rating questions with Yes, Quite/Probably, Unsure, Hardly/Probably Not or No. The answers adds different amount of points to a point-sum which then the tool makes a decision out of.

It's not shared anywhere, more than that WouterVL had a test of a prototype, which was WAY TOO strict. But I've Re-coded it from the ground-up, and now I have something that hasn't been to shabby, yet...
I've developed it so far that it is even capable of hinting out Feature-worthy modules.

NOTE: It's something you NOT put modules' fate onto. It still needs testing, it can give the wrong tips.

Other facts about it:
  • It's written in C++
  • It uses console
  • It's very basic: uses the libs "iostream" and "string"

I can send the .exe-file on request, to screeners who want to have a look at it.

I can send the main.cpp-file on request, to developers who may be interested to develop it futher.

I'll develop it futher if I come up with any new ideas or improvements.

Dug around in my old module map from 2013. It was futher back than I'd remember.

It worked when I used version 1.22
