Tracking / VST Sources for Trackers that use them>>>>
« on: December 05, 2020, 14:01:40 »
Have been auditioning VSTs for the H8 Tracker so have amassed all kinda source links that you won't find on VSTUpYou or VST4Fee or those other 'compiling' sites that are starting to get irritating with all the ads, demo links or link leads to commercial product or is just DEAD!

I have nothing to gain so you get the real deal...

I mostly look for 'OLDIES' Win32...I have a 64bit machine but only use it for graphic stuff & all my others are 32bit for audio as there is so much 32bit that will never see 64bit and many 32bit plugs are becoming free now as well....

First site here many old plugs, original free Muon Tau & Original Free Phatmatik (uses REX not RX2) and 2 favs by Stefan Jeworowski...Others too

The Breath Cube & Cube Breath & video comes back too-

Xfer Records Free you know those are ALL good-

https://web.archive.org/web/20140114231448/https://xferrecords.com/freeware/

Mvxsynths prolific Synthedit-

https://sites.google.com/site/mvxsynths/

LePou Cabinets...Amazingly ALL these work perfect in H8 Tracker so should work in ANYTHING-

http://www.grebz.com/simulator_freeamp_poulin_eng.php

OdoSynths is now a dead torrent but you can get them all on the wayback-

Kx77free-

Marvin Synths-

More to come....

I know Buzz machines are similar to VST but not actually VSTs...

There anyway to get them working as such?...

I found an old FL Studio adapter but don't seem to work that way....

Tracking / H8 Tracker 1.90 Tips-Techniques-Pitfalls...
« on: December 02, 2020, 04:28:06 »
Well just finished a short test tune in H8 Tracker 1.90 beta which is tracker that came out in 2001…

Probably many here have not even heard of it…I’m sure a few have though…

I find this tracker good for short tunes or concepts exploration is fast workflow but you must be man enough to tolerate a few pitfalls & a beta environment…

The reward is a portable tracker that is compact & free of garbage features with automation curves which are the FOREFRONT of the tracker…

Here’s tune I uploaded last nite worked on it on-off during past week…NOTE…There was no crackles on any playback 'till I started recording the output of it even though it just uses directsound…I’ll have to try some different recorders to try & solve…

https://alonetone.com/TalkOrBell/tracks/girl-cheese-sandwich

There is NO CHEATING using H8Tracker…QWERTY only & when I am doing QWERTY only I use a method called tactical composing…

Since this was coded by a 19 year-old Polish kid I am surprised it was not QWERZ format…Kid had ingenious ideas too bad it did not go further…

Images here-

Girl Cheese Sandwich-

If you want to challenge yourself to make a tune on a 20 year-old tracker with LIMITATION & CONSTRICTION yet refreshing simplicity & actually quite stylish you can DL here…NOTE…It’s just a 329 KB ARCHIVE! It includes TRACKER, 3 GUI-Less plugs & ONE demo tune!..LOL!..TIGHT CODING!

http://www.maz-sound.de/archives/h8t190.zip

This can also be put into the wayback machine as well & comes back too-

https://web.archive.org/web/20160327071134/http://www.maz-sound.de/archives/h8t190.zip

This would make a great ‘challenge tracker’ for a contest of sorts…

It loads WAVs (not all) XIs & the rest is VSTi-VST only quality plugs work if you have any questions post them on alonetone under my test tune in comments…

If you have grabbed the GUI-Less plugs I uploaded the 95% of those will work 100% in the tracker....

Here's one I wish I had years ago...

Great addition to any Tracker Lair or even better for a Rebirth Lair (Less visual feedback)...

It's a Text Editor with specific musical function for Lyrics and-or Chords, ETC...

Best use to keep track of what you are doing if there happens to be complexity then it's easy to forget or be lost...

Also good to keep copy with your modules or other song file...

The Free version seems to have plenty of features...

OK, Well, I guess I'll get this over with...I ain't no pro Tracker...

First Tracker Tune Made in SunVox 1.8x using XI instruments from the KLarchive-

https://alonetone.com/TalkOrBell/tracks/osmosis-highway

Next done in IoNeo Aero Studio 5 tracks all scored in the piano roll then adjusted in the tracker view. Aero does great job of simply hooking directsound...Didn't bother mixing this at all just puked it out-

https://alonetone.com/TalkOrBell/tracks/apache-swagger

Then one done in OLD Renoise that wasn't finished before crash & now that renoise is no longer 32bit no XP function forget it...Was having issues with it as it was THEN for massive RAM-CPU a bit ridiculous for a tracker to be that way might as well use something else-

https://alonetone.com/TalkOrBell/tracks/pure-suede-me-%28wip%29

This one had just started & got intro done in Aodix 4.2 so all DSP was lost will have to rebuild this one. Done with QWERTY only then adjusting notes with Aodix's INGENIOUS vertical piano roll. Pitch bends for fretless bass harmonics were done with Joystick-

Note - There are some other audio stuff there as well as non-audio check it out...

Have been using the 'Spews' Wallpaper Changer which is quite good as you can have it pause changing when a certain EXE is running...(Some apps freeze or crash when wallpaper is switched underneath)...

Sampling / JRhodes3 Multi-Velocity SF2 to Separate XI Instruments -
« on: November 22, 2020, 13:48:30 »
Hallo...

Was playing with this on this morning so figured I'd upload...

I Made some years ago from the Free JRhodes3 SoundFont which had 5 layers...

Normally when doing separate layers to different XI if the other velocities are too similar I don't bother but this has very different layers...

You can use one or load up others on different track (or Instance) for more realistic Rhodes play...

For me I just play on one velocity then review pattern audibly then any notes I want to make louder I copy & paste to louder track velocity & same for soft...Simple-Simple

Just so you know these are large XIs 15-20 MB each...

Found this a few weeks ago with link coming back...

If your Tracker uses VSTs then this might work for you...It's a virtual midi keyboard plugin like Bome or such with mouse control of pitch & modulation & more...

Initial version freeware later went commercial...

Sampling / Sonic Explorer 1.3 Free via Wayback Machine Win32-
« on: November 21, 2020, 23:15:56 »
I use a few different apps for previewing Dirs of WAV files  & such...Don't like the ones that wanna scan first so pretty much discount those...

I like this Sonic Explorer also use one called 'Sound Library 1.90'...

Sonic is nice cause it's like explorer but you have access to your native right-click within it so if you have a 'gathering function' like piky basket or a copy-move thingy it can be used inside Sonic...

Also shows a waveform but not really necessary but nice

Direct DL Here-

https://web.archive.org/web/20130112002739/http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15705707/Sonic%20Explorer%20Setup.exe

Also some other good freeware there like VSTnotes, VSTnotesXL & Probagate...

Tracking / About The FANTASTIC SVArTracker 1.22 >>>>>
« on: November 21, 2020, 22:08:23 »
OK Here we go...Just started using this a week ago (The Free 1.22 Version) This thing quite rocks but takes a bit of learning as it is different...

Sounds as good as Renoise but has machine view connection which I prefer...You can import a variety of MODs and choose whether for plugin style (samples) or MIDI for MIDI only export later on...

You have an arrangement window (playlist) which I also prefer over Renoises method and the automation is drawn out right below the arrange window...

A selection in your pattern can be saved to the internal sampler so a VST could therefore be unloaded and the sampler is quite good & can use SF2s...It sounds superb like Renoise as well...

To load a VST you choose the DLL rather than scan...I prefer this as well & so far no failure...There are a truckload of routing that can be done...

The Effects Column on pattern view can be configured however you want & there is a further events editor as well plus somethings I still don't understand the purpose...

It has been in development till 2019 when it reached version 1.30 for 32 and 64bit and had many improvements on the pattern sector...

Website is no more so sad really...This is hot coding at its best and this is very easy on audio drivers & ASIO...Currently just running it on DirectSound no issues whatsoever (Unlike Renoise) also the sampler can be configged to run samples EITHER in RAM or Direct-To-Disc fashion (Unlike Renoise)...

There is alot more to tell & this is just version 1.22 we are talking about...

There are a few places to get version 1.22 (the only free version let out & the only one left) but here is the wayback directly-

https://web.archive.org/web/20160818081932/http://www.svarsoft.com/download/svartracker_1_22_free_inst.exe

Best demo tunes here-

https://web.archive.org/web/20120904192854/http://svarsoft.com/free_mp3_demo_music.html

There are a few videos on this channel but for NEWER version not 1.22-

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChGjgUiZ5xvkySdVpMgl_og/videos

Free version comes with just a few tunes but you can load in MOD XM S3M IT and others and you should load some in to see how it's wiring up...

The output view (O)you should NOT mess with except to change MIDI Controller or choose different sound driver as this will not reset upon exit...You will have to reinstall over again to get stock output connection back...

I wish this were still available today as I would buy the new version TODAY!!!

Docs are very minimal Dev was Russian so English translate not the best but genius coder for sure...

I feel this virtually undiscovered GEM was a labor of love for the developer...It just never took off...

This working great for me in XP SP3 even on marginal audio systems & sounds great...Exports to WAV or MIDI (If your setup in MIDI mode)...

sampler (AntiWave) is very good & you have option for opening sample in external editor...

A few things though...Some VSTi running may have preset reset to default on next loop...Don't know why maybe a bug but workaround I found was to add another instance, reset preset on first instance & just leave second alone or hookup anyway...

You cannot audition sampler or vst till pattern view is in focus...

For automation choose correct adapter, then choose desired effect channel on left column & DRAG down to area below arrange view...Then you need to draw a rectangle which can be lengthened or other then double-click to edit & draw points-curves...

If you click off adapter then click back 'on' but don't see your automation it is probably hidden in which there is a small bar you double-click or right-click...
