Software Showcase / NitroTracker for Nintendo DS
« on: May 23, 2008, 18:12:43 »

Has anyone tried this? It looks cool and I've simulated it on a DS emulator. Only you need a special expensive card to be able to run homebrew apps! It supports XM, MOD and some ITs and S3Ms.

I saw in the music for projects section, a post containing this:

Flash games uses MP3 files. Nintendo DS, Playstation Portable and Gamepark (GP32 / GP2x) devices uses MOD and XM files. The Gameboy Advance uses S3M files (I think), and Java ME games (mobile phones) uses GM MIDI.

I'm in agreement with the flash and mobile phone formats, but are all the others correct? I'm especially interested in the format Nintendo DS uses, owning one myself. I'd of thought that they would use a non-tracker format more like the PSF. Is this true? It sounds a bit like tracker music (you can sort of have that sixth sense for those sort of things!). If I had the roms for the games, how would I go about extracting the music.

I find all this quite hard to believe. I always thought that the module scene sort of died out after 1998 or so and fewer games use them - at least, that's what I've heard others say and what I see from peering into my games!

A final question, what's the difference between a MID and a SMF?

Tracking / Piano Roll Editors (aka Dots on a screen)
« on: February 19, 2008, 18:21:21 »
The tracker I use at the moment is a big fan of the piano roll editor (see pic). However, the app, PlayerPRO is no longer being developed and crashes frequently. I was wandering if there were any good trackers and/or midi sequencers using this type of editor for Mac OSX. Midigraphy ( http://www.lcv.ne.jp/~hirox/image/MIDI/MIDIgraphy1.jpg ) was also quite good, but again, it doesn't work on OSX. I asked this on yahoo answers and the only answer I got was someone saying iTunes or try google!

Just a thought... Apple should consider developing Quicktime and iTunes to accept mod files... Would this development be impossible or just a waste of time?

Tracking / PSF to MOD
« on: February 19, 2008, 17:37:25 »
Is there a way of doing this? Ideally on a mac... Wikipedia says that it involves sequencing so it is sort of a cross between a midi and an mp3 - sort of like a mod.

I'm still looking for a way of playing files ending with 11C, 22C and 44C.

Help me find that... / mods by "Kyze"
« on: December 27, 2007, 23:12:58 »
I'm trying to get the music from a game called Bugatron. They were saved as .oxm files (xms with ogg samples). My tracker opens them, but each sample is just white noise. Anyway, does anyone know where I can get this person's music:

His name is Robert Odman

His handle is Kyze

His groups have been: Reactor Core and BPX

The songs were made in 1999

His tunes that I am looking for are: Deep Blue, Anaesthesia, 404, Binary Flow. I've found a few of his on modules.pl.

Tracking / How do I play this file?
« on: December 21, 2007, 16:13:59 »
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G3CB7P3W

this file is one of about 20 from a game called fantastic journey. It's got great music but I can't seem to open this file. It's suffix is .11C, but there are others ending with 22C, 44C, 22U and 44U. I think it may be raw audio or compressed somehow.

PS-The link doesn't have any viruses!

Anything by the artists:
