Milkytracker/FT2 compatibility issue?
« on: December 06, 2008, 00:13:03 »

This isn't a bug report, so far as I know, but my computer just crashed after using FastTracker 2 on Windows XP Home Service Pack 3.  My computer froze, except for the mouse.  I don't know much about FT2, so I figured I would ask here.  It froze up when I loaded an instrument made in MilkyTracker.

Can you maybe post the instrument so we can have a look at it?

It's one of the two in the attachment.  The samples were made in FL Studio, and really all I did was volume adjustment and loop points.

Both instruments load fine in MilkyTracker and in Fasttracker II (under DOSBox) here. Were you running FT2 under XPSP3 without any emulation? Testing that I got a nasty sound glitch and a frozen mouse cursor. Fasttracker II requires DOS environment and an ISA sound card. Generally that means a Pentium 3 based system with Windows Me at maximum. If your setup is any more recent than that, you have to emulate said DOS environment with said ISA sound cards. (And DOSBox is how you do just that.)

In fact, I was running it without emulation!  I had to restart my computer, don't know if that's happened before.  Thanks for helping!  ;D
