Saving/Loading Samples

I drew a few samples I enjoy in MilkyTracker for OSX, organized them within the instrument and sample windows, and saved them all accordingly. But when I load them up in another module the waveform opens in a different sample length, very high pitch, and is upside down. Is this my human error or a possible bug within OSX? I've tried everything with two open tabs to match the loaded sample with the original, but have come to no avail.

On second thought, I think I'm getting it...

If I save it as an instrument rather than sample, it's fine. Why would that happen, though?

Hmm, upside down. Sounds like an endianness error to me. Do you run OSX on an Intel CPU?

Yup. OSX 10.4.11 Tiger on a 2006 Macbook 2,1 to be more specific. It saves it accurately if I save through the Instrument window, but through the Sample window it saves it as a wrong sample size, upside down waveform (have to convert it to backwards to have it look correct again), and it maps the original pitch to the lowest possible key note so C-4 sounds much much higher than it did when it was saved.

Strange. If it's a Macbook with Intel CPU, then it should be LittleEndian (i guess? never used a mac :P). Maybe Milkytracker still does some Bigendian conversions where it shouldn't do them, though?

I just tried and yeah, you're right. There seems to be a bug in the WAV export that nobody noticed yet :)

Edit: It's not a bug in the WAV exporter, when I implemented Quicktime support on OS X, I totally forgot about the fact, that Quicktime will also replace the internal WAV loader. And the Quicktime WAV import seems to either incorrectly load the 8 bit wave sample or there is indeed a bug in the WAV exporter which causes Quicktime to incorrectly load the sample.

I will think about a solution.

Btw. it only happens on OS X because only the OS X version supports Quicktime sample loading.

Right on! Thanks for the quick reply and keep me posted here if you come up with any ideas! And here I thought I was making some simple n00b mistake...

I think I fixed it a while ago. The Quicktime loader is ommited when loading WAV samples. While talking about it, it should also be avoided for AIFF samples, I wonder if I did that.

Maybe we can put out a little update for the OS X users out there.
