Building a better template to use for chiptune
« on: February 20, 2018, 18:02:23 »

Hey everyone! New to tracking here. I have been able to grab xm files from other folks and zap them to use them as a starting point. I've yet to figure out adding/creating new instruments. Is there a way to export the instruments from an xm file? Or a dump of sounds somewhere?

I'm trying to have a good template for making songs, but I can't seem to figure out how to load up the sounds I want into one file.

Thanks in advance!

hi,
first of all, if you're curious i'd have you look on youtube about drawing your own samples in milkytracker, it's really amazing, that you can generate everything yourself, fairly easily

as for actual samples,
i haven't checked this out in years but, i just checked if it's still available and it is
http://tracker.modarchive.org/torrents/woolyss-chiptune-samples.zip.torrent
this is actually linked on the download page of milkytracker
http://milkytracker.titandemo.org/downloads/

what's funny is if you actually go to woolyss' site, it's not actually there, there's just a bunch of links
https://woolyss.com/chipmusic-samples.php
assuming they are some of the same that comprise the torrent, it would take you much longer to compile them all
there's also a samples links page in the "tracker" section of the site but it seems worse, maybe just cos' there are no description for any of the links, they could be some of the same ones, or maybe they're not chiptune-related
https://woolyss.com/tracking-samples.php

i actually haven't looked in the torrent so i dunno if it's actually good, but i assume it is
