Help finding a module file?
« on: June 29, 2016, 10:00:11 »

edit: wow, I just realized there's a subforum on Mod Archive specifically for this sort of thing.  :-[ I only remember browsing Milky Tracker. I might repost there, or maybe this can be moved...

This is a long shot, but I've been thinking about this for years. Between 2006-2009 when I first signed up here, I was looking for example music because something I was programming with could pretty much only play .it files.

I download some random song... which I either deleted or lost in a hard drive crash. But even now some seven years later, it pops into my head. Or maybe some corruption of what it actually sounded like. I am somewhat sure I got it from a milkytracker subforum. It's possible my 2009 sign up was my first search for it...

Attached is me whistling what I remember. (The file itself wasn't necessarily an .it)

In the last year I did two hunts for this song. My dad had bought a new hard drive adapter, and I verified the drive the song might be on is really, truly dead. I looked a little here, but didn't go in depth.

Just tonight, I refound some of my old programming stuff. The song was not there either. I have just gone through and downloaded every file that was still available that more or less matched the timeframe I might have been here. This craziness is what prompted me to finally just make a post, I clearly care more than I thought about finding it.

Not that it really matters, but here's proof of that:

It's possible it wasn't in the "share songs" subforum, so I'm about to hunt elsewhere. Now, the forum software kept track of my read topics (though I've now ruined that by clicking all of them.)

So these were my "read" topics that had files I could not get. If you happen to have them, just sharing them would be cool.

https://modarchive.org/forums/index.php?topic=998.0 Listing this for good measure. I realize the last post is a very likely a reupload, but it's packed differently.

I've yet to go through these giant packs:

I'm kind of hoping someone just recognizes the melody, but that's pretty unlikely. I'm not optimistic, but this whistling is the last thing I can think of to do in my search. I don't even have an idea what the filename might have been. I'm a little sure it was someone's firstie, but not sure enough to add it to the criteria.

I have the two tracks by am-fm but they are definitely not what you are looking for.

Thanks for sharing them regardless. It at least keeps me from wondering about them.
