I'm thinking silentely about this for years now... Probably someone of you has some more information on this topic?
I've compared the original module (INTRO.MOD) of pinball fantasies to the playback in the game itself, i tried different programmes, always with the same (and obvious) result.
Go to position 6 (pattern 12) and listen to the string chords.
mp3 version of this passage: link

now listen to the ingame version: link

weird, isn't it? there is an extra chord, although it's the SAME file. probably it has something to do with the Arpeggio command? Really strange...
There's something similar going on in Pinball illusions in pattern 21 (position 29)... the game is doing the opposite of what's written in the patterns, there is a portamento up, but the game does a portamento down...

Depending on what os platform you are referring to it could be a pretty simple replayer bug. Especially on the PC platform those are very common.

Well, I checked it with all players i have (XMplay, Deli, Modplug and several others) and they all played it in another way than the game. And in the pattern data of the pinball fantasies intro, there is definitly an arpeggio effect

I meant there could be a replay bug in the routines used in the game.

Hehe, quite possible. But is it really a bug or a feature? To me, it looks like the programmer wanted to extend the player commends, since a single arpeggio effect on a string sample doesn't sound intended to me. It would be nice to have a look at the source codes actually :D
