Built-In Synths and/or Drums
« on: December 02, 2008, 07:21:30 »

Hello,

Ok, so I know I'm new to NitroTracker, but I do have an idea for something that might make it that much cooler.  It would be amazing if there were some built in 8-bit synth(s) and/or some drums so you wouldn't have to worry about adding samples.  Also, if these instruments existed, they could have presets, like for some of the common tones from the NES (like the square, triangle, & saw waves, & the arpeggios, delays, sweeps, etc.).  I don't know anything about how NitroTracker is made, or if something like this can be implemented, but it would make NT that much easier and badass.

You posted this in the Mod Archive website help & support->feature/suggestions forum.

This is obviously for Nitrotracker... NT has a set of subforums here, under the Tracking category and has the Nitrotracker logo at the top. I am moving your post there. :)

The reason why they don't do this, is every other program that runs an xm as far as I know doesn't. So, your songs would be incompatible with them. if it automatically put these default drums and such in, and you didn't use them, you would have a file larger than is necessary since they are unused.

A simple way to solve this yourself. Make a song, and put in it all of the default things that YOU want. Every time you want to create a new song with these, just open that default song then copy it to a new file. this way you can have your defaults, and the rest of us can do without unnecessary burdens on our song making.

An internal synthesizer would probably go down well, not to be used for playback but for generating samples on the fly, then using them as regular samples in your track. I'm not a user of NT but I think this has been requested as a feature already :)
