API request - data visualization project
« on: February 14, 2016, 08:00:12 »

Hi,

For a school project, I want to create a visualization of data from modarchive.org.

Predicted demand:
I'm not sure how much requests I need to make. Initially, however, I'll retrieve a decently small subset of data (500~1000) because I need to figure out what to explore. I would like a level 5 API key because I think exploring the charts and favourites could make for interesting findings.

Commercial interest:
Being a school project, this is not for profit. I'd also like to share my visualizations and findings with you and the community!

Email:
My university email is attached to this account, which I check regularly.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi,
for this amount of instant data retrieval (and since it's a one-off thing), I imagine a database dump could be more appropriate. I'd need to know what kind of data you require, though.

If by type, you mean information, I'm not sure, which is why I would a small subset of data to explore with first. If otherwise you meant formatting, e.g. XML, CSV, and JSON, any of the three are good, as I will be working with Tableau and Wrangler to explore the data.

I indeed meant the former. I'll send you an API key via private message.
