Looking for "Ackerlite", the original, not the MID
« on: November 14, 2006, 22:39:02 »

Hi All,

As I was updating my artist page with some new info, I came here to browse the forums and saw that it had a section to search for "lost" modules... as I've always been searching for a MOD I've still not found, I'm going to ask for it here...

My request would be to find a module which could have been named "Ackerlite". Some of you may have already heard its quite famous MIDI conversion, named "acker-gs.mid" on the internet, especially those who played the great DX-Ball freeware PC game, one of the first successful freeware DirectX games.

The MIDI file seems to be very famous (it's widespread on the internet, you can find it here, for example), maybe because it has been used in DX-Ball, which was very successful itself. According to the comments in the MIDI file, it's a Roland GS Sound Canvas conversion of a MOD file named Ackerlite.

The problem is that I've NEVER found this original module anywhere! I searched on the WWW, on old PC magazines' CDs, on P2P networks... nothing. So I wondered if one of you has it on his/her HDD?

Thanks :)
Maxime

Yep, it seems to be this one  :)

I once found a MOD named Ackerlight, but it was a different music...
Therefore, I stopped searching for MODs named "Ackerlight"... seems that I was actually wrong!

I heard about this website, "Amiga Music Preservation", shortly after I posted my request... but I did not have the time to search for it here...

The author of this MOD seems to be French (or speak French)... I'm going to search for a way to get in touch with him, and thank him...

Thank you so much...
I'm sure that this website (AMP) is full of nice MODs :grinno:
