Can you search MOD files by year?

(1/1)

Krellion:
Like the title says,  are you able to search for music by the year they were created?

I listened to a bunch of mod files back in the 90s so I was hoping I could search for mods that were composed in the 1990's to see if there were any I remember.  ;D

I couldn't see anyway to do it but I could just be missing the obvious.

Thanks!

Axxy:
Don't think you can.

Besides, date stamps on files will never be accurate. If a file is added today, chances are it will show as today's date. I have 1000s showing dates ranging from <1980 to >2200.

You could use Music/Search - and search for date(s) using the Instrument/Comment filter, i.e 1990 etc.

If it's Protracker mods, you would probably better off searching for mods by composer as the really most known ones would have started back at the end of the 80s and early 90s.

Oh hey, thanks!  ;D

That's actually a good idea.  I didn't know you could search for music that way.

Some of those names you mentioned do sound familiar as well, it's a shame I don't recall any off the top of my head.

Saga Musix:
As Axxy says, file timestamps are highly inaccurate, and the absolutely majority of module formats have no metadata regarding their creation date. The closest you can get is searching the sample/instrument texts.
