Title: wonderful spring Filename: zaril_-_wonderful_spring.it |
Posted Tue 21st Jul 2020
Rated 9 / 10 |
A tranquil tune dedicated to spring. It manages to immediately bring about a peaceful atmosphere, where you stare out the window for a bit while your mind wanders off. It has two closely related string chords that take turns and the occasional moody piano playing a fragmented melody. There is minor thematic variation, which does build up somewhat towards the end. Recommended for some easy listening! Or as a backing track to your yoga routine. |

Very good! It starts off with an interesting and promising intro, and then a reggae feel rolls in. It has a nice main melody on a guitar, which can be a bit fiddly at times, but the chord changes form a nice addition. |

:) this actually has a good reggae feel. The tune is slow-paced (good!) has a deep bass and what sounds like a sampled guitar skank, which works quite well here. Some strange things going on in the melody, but given the title, I think I know why. And what's with that subsong? An attempt at Stevie Wonder's Master Blaster? |

Even from playing this in the online player, I can tell those four tracks will be packed to the rafters with samples and effect commands. This is one of those rare gems that should serve as an example of how tracking should be done. The tune is fast-paced, funky, and varied. It has elements of funk, jazz, and reggae, all blended into a pretty unique tune. |

It's almost like the artist laid down a beat, punched in the reggae afterbeat, let it run for a few minutes, and then remembered: this thing needs a melody. Then they quickly added some classical guitar notes and a power chord (?) for good measure. There's a sample about Jamaica scoring a goal and a cheering crowd. Sounds like the artist was just having a bit of fun, without a real intention to make an outstanding tune. |

It's quite easy to find anything remotely reggae on the archive, just by looking for the right keywords. A Jamaican Mario Mon is bound to give you a reggae version of one of the legendary Mario tunes. And that's exactly what this is. And it's amazing! well executed, tracking-wise, and some amazing musical things going on. Changes of feel, syncopated rhythms. And at just over one minute, it's short and sweet. Well done! |

My initial response was OMG! This can't be true. My suspicion was right. This is just a collection of original, jazzy roots reggae loops. Oh yes, they're absolutely lovely! But they're hardly tracked. There's a clavinet sample and some flutish sample taking turns. I feel cheated on! It's wonderful, but it just can't be! :P I don't know how to rate this! |

This is a reggae-ish version of an existing song that I can't put my finger on at the moment. It has a shuffled feel and a back beat synth. A marimba and a string sample handle the main melody. There's a single gated string taking care of the mid-range. The idea is well-done, but once it's established near the beginning, nothing new happens after after that. |

The tune starts off interestingly. Somehow, it reminds me of Stevie Wonder's Master Blaster at times. There is a nice build-up of suspense, and has some great question-and-answer motives, but at four minutes without a break or change and continous pads in the back, it kind of drags on. |

It starts off promising, with a typical Reggae bassline. Then, the reggae skank comes in, which doesn't really follow the chords of the bassline. It does have a sort of reggae feel to it, but it's mostly a collection of samples played on top of a reggae-ish pattern that repeats and repeats. |

How has this ever slipped my attention! This is beautiful. And done in only one hour? I salute you, sir. Fantastic chord progressions, nice rhythms, great changes. The build-up is awesome. Though I usually don't fancy the reggae afterbeat as some sort of gimmick, it works very well here. Excellent layering too. And the samples are wonderful. |

An nice little tune that starts with a standard rock beat, interesting bass run, and a regularly pulsating pad, that makes it sound like an 80s tune. The three-tonal intro melody could have had a little more work. A saxophone samples takes over, which is nice, but sounds a bit random sometimes. Overall it is an enjoyable tune. |

This is a nice blend of lounge, dance and reggae. The samples are of high quality. I like the jazzy pads and strings. The bass fits the track nicely, but I'm not too fond of that breathy melody instrument that's used in the second half of the tune. It is built up very well though. I like the unexpected syncopated stabs at the end. |

For a 4-channel file, this is the best and most interesting reggae tune I have heard in a looong time. There's even a bit of one drop reggae in it, which I haven't heard in a reggae module before. So both a great representative of the tracking scene as well as reggae music. |

It started off quite alright with a steady dance beat. Then the salsa horn blasts came in and I thought this was going to be nice, as it sounded like some modern remix of an old salsa standard was coming in. Then there were some vocal samples, which aren't really my thing, and a sample of a salsa piano pattern, which was then accompanied by an organ which tried to play the same notes but missed a few, and a dance bass that did not fit the chord pattern. |

Great rhythms, a very nervous bass line, nice little aiaiai choir. There's a pretty cool percussion break in the middle, which is so full, you wonder how mystical managed to get it all in 4 channels, and which actually sounds like samba. The tune is built up well, but a little short. Nice syncopated piano chords. |

Yeah! It's Bossa, it's Swing, it's Samba and it's Flamenco! with just a guitar. This is awesome. The chords are just awesome, and the switches from one style to another run smoothly, especially the switches to swing and to the samba made me smile :). There are some strange tempo things going on which you can't really help, since it's done in a traditional s3m format, but I forgive you. |

Great effort by the artist. Fantastic chord progression. This is a somewhat more relaxed bossa jazz and one of the most intricated I've come across. The vibraphone sample is a little out of tune, though. There is a certain drum solo, which in itself is nice, but doesn't really add up to the samba feel of the track. After that, the beat doubles in tempo, becoming a fast samba. The chords don't follow the doubling, which takes away the effect. Very good in general though. |

Yes! This is what I mean! Cool, laidback bossa nova jazz. Awesome chord progression, great melodies, reasonably high quality samples. Some minor things to nag about: The organ chords could have been chopped up in stead of running continuously, to enhance the rhythmic feel of the tune. But I love that keyboard swipe! The thing has no end. The drums are a bit underrepresented. |

ehhh, wut? o.O Obviously a lot of work has gone into it. I don't really know what to say. There are some highly enjoyable parts in it, but at some points it's just weird. There is a latin or samba feel to this song at some point, and it's syncopation galore, but sometimes it's just a lot of stuff going on at the same time. There are some nice chord progressions throughout the tune. It appears from the instrument text the artist is upset about people criticising his musical abilities. Well, you got skills, but it still sounds a bit odd if you put it all together. |

It has the samba ingredients: the heartbeat bass drum, the syncopated rhythms, a surdo-like drum etc. Even triplets! Not all the samples are used too well, though. I enjoyed the carefree feel of the song, but the artist has been a bit too carefree IMHO, pasting a lot of the same patterns behind each other. The artist knows their rythms though. The fade-out is a bit too sudden, though. |

Alright, nice rhythmic composition with cool breaks and clear samples, but some strange things going on with the congas? It tends to get monotonous after a while. It carries the word samba in its title, but it does not really have a strong samba feel. It may be interesting from a musician's point of view, but tracker-wise it could use a little more. |

uuh! this thing floats, hovers and wavers on! Very relaxed. Just what I needed for my hangover :). Here's whiney old Woolters though: some chords of the e-piano are a bit too low; they clash with the bass, making my pretty outstanding sennheiser headphones go WRZZZRZRZ :) |

alright, this is pretty good. Some show of musical skills! A nice tempo change to a more reggae-ish feel in which the bass line is pretty good. I love those clear sizzling hihats. The bongo line makes me pretty nervous, though it is again some show of rhythmic knowledge, with paradiddles and other stuff :)). The thing is full of triplets, which you won't hear much on TMA. I would have picked a different instrument for the pan flute line. |

Though the artist must have had fun tracking this polka-type track, it's not really that special. It starts with a bass and a drum beat. And then there's a happy melody, though the song is just over 1 minute long, with the happy melody repeating about 4 times and that's it. |

Clear samples, but pretty monotonous. It's 6:20m long, but the string chords repeat and repeat and repeat and over and over and over again. The sub bass is nice, but if I hear a drum sample building up in a crescendo, I expect a climax, which is not really there. No lead, just that string chord sequence. |

The tracker has tried to catch the reggae vibe. Though it didn't really work out that way, the tune in itself is enjoyable. There's a clear melody, and the accompaniment of a bass guitar, drums and a backbeat chord stab do the melody justice. There's a short drum break, after which the same melody line is repeated, only it has been modulated to a different key (played with higher notes). The end (if we can call it that) is rather unconventional. |
