This time I really don't know how to classify this one. The skills of this artist in arranging and creativity are superb! The slow intro and the fast movements that follow are very nice. DreamMaster uses a lot of themes and puts them perfecly together. It contains a grand climax and several impressive modulations. This song is exciting from the beginning to the end and really "takes you back to medieval times"... 10 points for the Music Rating Now lets talk about the major problem in this track: The samples sound so shitty. So I decided to give him 5 pts for the Tech Rating. I know it is hard to find fine samples for orchestral tracks. But I think they could have been better (at least a bit). A track that contains good orchestral samples is "nb_kingf.it" or "nb_stead.it" for example. Sorry, but this lack destroys the wonderful feeling this composition could give to the listener. The rest is very well done. The artist uses many effects and seems to be a quite talented tracker.

I think this one is an experiment of smurf. He tracked the Dark World-tune from the game Zelda 3 and tried to keep as close to the original song as possible. He did a good job. The remix is quite short (one minute), and is (in my opinion) made in a hurry. But it remembers me of the good old times... The samples are really bad, but this is ok, because the original theme sounds this way, too. So Smurf did an excellent job in pushing the sound-quality to that low level...Not bad for his first self-edited sample ever :P

15secs intro and 45secs total playing time. It sounds nice, but it is a little bit short, I think. Okay, you can put an endless loop on it, but this doesn't improve the tune a lot. A simple melody followed by a few chords. That's it. It gives the listener the impression of an unfinished work that could have been someday a really good track. I think the artist is able to do much better work, if he wants to. In the few main patterns he shows some pretty good arranged parts. The song itself sounds like a 20kb chiptune. When you look at the total playing time of 45secs and the size of 700kb you see there must be something wrong. There are a few crappy samples that don't fit or should at least have been cut or edited...

This song is one of Lizardking's early compositions. Of course this one was made for an amiga-intro. This is why it hasn't got any real ending. Loop this one. Musically it consists of two parts mixed nicely together. Nothing overwhelming but solid work made in the good old times with a nice peaceful athmosphere. According to the fact that this piece is only a background-music the lack of climaxes and ideas (drums and strings play always the same rythm and chords) it's OK. For a stand-alone composition this is not enough. The sample quality is ok for a size of 50kb. And the way the vibrato and slide effects are used with the leading voice show the artist skills. I have never heard someone making such a bad sample sounding that good. Respect. If anyone doesn't know how to use effects take a look at lizardking's works.

Yo! Listen to this if you want to listen to a good trance-tune. This 5 min long track sounds very professional but the listener becomes bored, because there is no leading theme in it. It starts with a nice background line that starts to annoy after 30 secs. At 2:32 there is a cut and the background theme is played filtered. So there are no real changes in the melody even when another background theme starts at 3:03. With a few more inspiration this one could have made even better and even longer. The fact that there is no leading melody is not always a lack. If you want something you can dance to this one is really worth the download. The professional sound makes it. Some of the 8-bit samples were made by the Artist himself and all of them have a good quality. The few effects you can find were used the right way and the three parts of the song were mixed excellent together. The ending comes a bit too abrupt. Some pattern were used twice or more instead of being bringing in new variations. Alltogether on the one hand the small file-size and on the other hand the resulting good sound make it allright, finally.

This one sounds in some parts a bit like Approach, but who cares. This one is really awesome work! I don't want to know how much time nightbeat spent into the Kingfisher. It sounds so very simple the way the flute and accordion play their melodies you almost forget that you are sitting in front of your computer and are not standing on a market place of the early 11th century. I don't know what I should tell you else than that you need to download this and write it on CD immediately. It's short but perfect. He did it again. Nightbeat seems not to be able to make any bad mods. Or he doesn't release them ;-). 60 channels and the whole effects-palette are used. Impressive! The wonderful samples (unpacked size ca. 5MB) make this song an event you really enjoy every time you listen to it. If anybody doesn't know how to track, look at this one.

Must have been a dark day for the artist to make such a dark journey. Related to overwrld.s3m which got a rating of 4.0 this one should be rated -4.0. But I think this would be too hard. I think the artist has got a lot of work to do and hours to try out but he will soon become better, I think. The song itself hasn't got any harmonies or a real melody. I give to it 1 "music-point" for the few notes that have been put together to something you could call a theme. 6 samples. 6 big samples. 6 16bit samples that are big and sound ugly. 4 channels where 2 would have been enough if effects were used. But there is not even 1 effect. The only thing that deserves 1 point in the rating is the correct use of hammerhead to create a good breakbeat... Sorry, but this song could have been improved a lot.

Yeah. Even if it is not that exciting work it is very well done. When you listen to the song you don't think it's a module because it is very well arranged. The vox-lead and the 303-samples make it sound professional. The song hasn't got any real melody (this must not always be a lack), it consists of a few chords played by strings again and again. So the parts are repeated. If it had been a bit more varied, it could have been even longer. Excellent samples used, but the voice seems to me a bit empty. It should be played in the original height, I think (just a proposition). Very simple concept and arrangement, but it was never supposed to be more. It's an ambient track. Good work.

This one is hard to review because it is only a remix. I've listened to the original tune by Andreas and this remix is very close to the original file. There are not many improvements made by DaNeR. Changes have been made in length, pattern order and some drums have been added. The rating I gave above is given for the work which was done by Andreas so far. The remix itself deserves a rating of 1.0. If you downloaded this you should download the original av_letme.xm (reviewed 7.0 by Fabian) to choose your own favourite version. Alltogether the song's style remembers me a bit of Robert Miles. Here it is the same way like above. The biggest part of the instruments are taken from the original. Drums have been added by DaNeR. Alltogether the remix is well arranged. No lacks.

Yeah, Excellent. I think this word describes the artists work the best way. The composition is full of ideas and the background music is done very well, too. The several parts are mixed together virtously with tons of inspiration. The only problem is that the first part is repeated in the ending. So the song could have been made a little bit longer than 2:57. My advice: Download this one! This work shows you the way to make mods: Good samples, the wise use of many effects and a lot of time to make it sound fine. Background fx and a good mixing of the instruments' volumes give this piece a very professional touch.

The song starts with a basedrum and goes on with several instruments added step by step. The leading melody doesn't change much during the whole song but is varied in the second part. With a few more ideas this song could have become more interesting. The way it is it could be played in any discotheque. It is a good but not extraordinary work. The Artist used 21 samples (four 16 bit) of good quality. Some of the voice samples are taken from Skaven's "Deep in her Eyes". Hall effects and volume/panning envelopes make the song sound fine.
