This kind of music is probably what first springs to my mind when I think of Amiga music. It has a very nice groove to it, especially the synth strings and bass. Xtd is in my opinion a very underrated Amiga musician. He masters all the important factors of music making, and this song is a clear example. Just listen to the way the song is build up, and how he combines the samples and effects. Excellent synth samples, which all fit in perfectly for this 4 channel mod. The lead is very nice, and the 2 lead samples which take turns blend in nicely. I dig the way Xtd uses the volume effects to create that totally cool lead...:) This tune is looping. Oh yeah, and if you want to hear more of Xtd's tunes look out for songs which start and end with ##, because that is usually songs Xtd has done

Some may disagree, but I think this song is pretty good. The melody sounds a bit sad, but you can't help but feel happy when you listen to this song...I can't anyways. ;) However I would NOT recommend people who dislike chiptunes or other minimilistic music to hear this one...because you probably won't like it then. Well...firstly this song uses entirely St-01 samples, and secondly this song uses no effects!!! I actually made my first song by using these samples, because they didn't need to be combined with effects. A definate song for the St-01 lovers...

4-mat is one of my favorite trackers, and although he is best known for his chiptunes he can infact also make pretty good regular music. The track starts off with slow strings and a morse code sound, which actually fits pretty good in. One thing I like about 4-mat is his lead work and this song is no exception...excellent lead. This tune is looping...:) Nice samples, especially the lead and strings. The drums are a bit metallic in my opinion. 4-mat doesn't really use many effects, but he uses those he needs and that works just fine. Overall a pretty average 4 channel MOD.

A very nice chiptune in my opinion. The song kicks off with the classic sid drums, and is joined in by a great beat and bass. The tune itself is great and the lead and arpeggio are great, but the best element in this song is definately the totally awesome groove the song has. Effects used standardly, and the samples are all nice and blend together nicely. As I said before the groove is great, and I especially like the way the composer created this by using chippy sounds. Many complain about that chiptunes are short and end strangely, but let this tune set the example. This chiptune is BTW, looping.

A nice Amiga mod from Mark "Tdk" Knight, who is probably more known for his unique chiptune style. Anyways, this tune really captures the feel when you are game over - as the title suggests. I'm not sure whenever this tune was actually used in a real game, but who knows, and as far as I know Mark "Tdk" Knight is now a professional game musician and has done some work for Mindscape. Samples are fine, except maybe the strings which have that kind of a annoying clicking sound, but this doesn't ruin the overall tune. The samples are very demo stylish, especially the lead. A pretty average song all in all...

A little cute looping chiptune by one of the masters of chiptunes. Perfect example of minimistic music, with typical chip arrangement...the octave bass, catchy vibro lead and passive drums. Not many effects used in this chip, but ok arranged anyways. You can't get over that this chip could have been a bit longer, but there's chip for ya. Overall a cute, looping, probably fast made chip which I personally like...

This is probably one of my favorite S3m's of all time. The reason is quite simple...it's fantastic, mind blowing and awe inspriring. The string arrangement in this piece is undoubtly one of the best things, but the drums/percussion has also been arranged nicely. Normally I wouldn't say that the length of a track is what matters, but in this kind of music it just adds up when it's 6 minutes long, and it just keeps going with such a variety...it just doesn't get boring! The samples blend in nicely, nothing to complain about here. Effects used nicely, especially the volume effects, and this track is therefor a good oppotunity to learn more about effects if you just started. (Did that myself.) By the way, I've always wondered who actually composed this track. Some say it's Purple Motion, but on the Mods Anthology CD this song was included in Skaven's directory...however the song is not listed on Skaven's homepage. Well, who ever composed this track have reason to be proud because it is a VERY nice track...thats my conclussion.

This tune starts really nice, with some cool synths then hits over in a kind of robotic beat. I especially like the way Purple Motion creates those nice echo effects for the lead. Strange end though...supposed be looped perhaps? There one thing I don't like about this song, the strings. The string samples doesn't seem to fit in to the rest of the tune, it would be better for the tune if they had been left out. Dispite this, it's not a bad song at all.

Hard to really give this song a classification, because of it's variety in both sound and tempo. It starts out really ambient like, with soft strings and flutes then hits over in a chip leaded sound, with some great synths; after this it hits back in the ambient style once again, and then finishes off with the chip/synth sound again. Maybe this isn't Purple Motion's best song, but that doesn't mean it's bad either. It has a pretty cool sound to it, and there's nothing sound related that can be complained about. A pretty good song all in all...

A very demo style song. There's alot of synth samples and synth like effetcs which really gives the song a cool sound. The song is a little repeative, but it doesn't ruin it overall. The song finishes off nicely as well... The samples are as usual in Jester's songs awesome and they fit together in this piece nicely. Great stuff from Jester; can't think of more to write about...excellent song.

This is a prime example of a chiptune! It has everything that makes chiptunes so wonderful, oldskool sound, catchy tune and creativity. I like this chiptune alot, one of my favorite ones actually, especially because of the nice solo's, the one in particular I like is where the lead calls out and gets answered...very cool. 4-mat is in my opinion one of the best chip composers on the scene, he pioneered much of the stuff and he is REALLY good at it. The samples is of course chippy and oldskool like they should and the effects are used good. A must for chiptune fans like myself. Get it! Get it! Get it!

This MOD is an absolute classic! Using only piano samples and 4 channels Romeo Knight shows just what you do. This is the ultimate piano MOD on Amiga...and it lives on. The piano samples are great...and they are put together to perfection. Romeo Knight is great at using the speed effect to make it all sound good. BTW, if you were wondering what P.P.S. stands for, Romeo once said it stood for: "Play some sh!t..." Heh. Get this MOD now...don't miss this classic.

Well there's not very much to write about this song...unless that it lasts 23 seconds. Maybe it wasn't even completed? This is very meaningless...don't even bother listning. Just a piano repeating a few chords, a hihat pounding and a drumsnare snarring a few snares. Conclusion: Don't listen...

Stargazer whom I thought only made chiptunes blew my mind with this song. The tune is very catchy, especially the lead. There is really no repeats in the song so it never gets boring at any time. The only downpart of this tune is the odd ending, which obivously isn't suppose to be there. This tune was BTW made for Assembly '92... The samples are very spacey, particularly the lead voice. The effects are used often and Stargazer has especially made alot of volume effects. The effects and samples has been combined in a good and smooth manner to set the atmosphere. I couldn't decide at first whenever to give this song a 9.5 or a 10.0, but after hearing it one more time I decided to give it top marks...because this is a AWESOME tune.

This is a dance like remix of the old Green Sleeves song. It starts out with the good old intro with a clavi sample before boosting away in a heavy rythem. There's a few things that the composer perhaps should have left out like a zapper noise in the middle of it all. This is not the best track, but it's not a bad one either. The effects play a really insignificant role in this track; it's just really the samples pumping away. The samples aren't the best, especially the snare and hihat are a bit overtuned.

This has to be one of the best 4 channel MODs ever made! The tune is just awesome, every aspect of the song is well made. The break in the middle of the song with the synth solo is ingeniusly timed and made, just like the song itself. Can't complain about the samples. The composer really knows his effects well because they are used to near perfection, especially in the before mentioned break with the synth solo. In conclusion...this song is a masterpiece...don't hesistate, get it NOW!

This was one of the first MODs I ever heard and I still love it. After a very nice string intro the very catchy tune kicks in. The main tune shifts between 2 main samples and in between there is alot of synth like effects. The bass and rythem doesn't dominate that much, but they keep the beat steady. The song finishes off smooth and nicely. One of the things I think is cool about this track is the way the composer uses the samples, like he makes a drumroll out of one simple sample. Since this track is pretty old (Could be from Amiga?) the samples aren't anything to cheer wildly about, but they are good enough to not ruin the music. All in all this peice of music is a classic in my opinion! Shows just how much you can do with 4 channels.
