Starts out OK with a typical old school sound. The overall sound quality in the beginning is just so-so. Then the song seems to continue with few differences to the sound for 2 minutes when it starts changing, but only slightly. The tune keeps on going rather climaxless for another minute before it takes a turn into an upbeat sort of techno and the theme keeps changing.

It's unclear what the tune tries to achieve. It seems like a lot of average demostyle ideas put together loosely with little thought put on the overall sound. The song would have benefited a lot more on variation in the original theme and progression rather than starting over. The fact that the samples are pretty crappy in quality does not help either, especially not for the leads which sounds like a part of the chords. I'm disappointed.

Very good house music with a dark atmosphere. It's also pretty typical for it's time, being this tune was made in 1996 when this sort of tune was trendy. The ideas put in works pretty well, in fact, almost flawless, but I would like to see more creativity.

Anyway, just my two cents. A great tune, but there are others like this one. Great example at what you can do with a tracker, in fact, this sounds like studio quality.

I remember this tune from a long time ago when I downloaded it while it was in the upload queue. The tune was just like I remembered it, happy, clicky and chippy with all the NES sounds which I notice today follows the rules of the NES chip with 2 pulse, 1 triangle, 1 noise and one DPCM channel.
Overall pretty OK, but not overly exceptional in any way. The leads are effect-full but dull at the same time. The bass is weak since it's made of a triangle wave and the noise drums are OK but repetitive. Well, actually the whole tune is repetitive. The style and everything really catches the NES sound, though. That's always a plus.
The tune is short and loops. I'd like to see a bit more to this song, but the song is good enough to listen to sometimes.

Kefka has this module on his Amiga 500. It's pretty chilly and overall very nice. It's an excellent source for some reggae samples, too. The instruments sounds like what you could expect from a SNES game of good quality. It finds its way to the heart pretty easily.

This is the very first chip I ever heard in a module format. It's variated and rather cute with it's happy theme. The sound is pretty rich and dynamic. And if you read the module text, it can provide with quite a sentimental moment. Congratulations, Grl and Slammy! :)

Classification: Oriental Ambient Starts off with a clear theme with a moody bass synths and some bird twittering followed with ethnical blow instruments and sequenced drums and then continues with basicly little change for another minute. This module sounds good, impressive for some perhaps, but monotonous and honestly not so exiting after a minute. In the end, the drum loop goes very clearly out of beat. The drum loop is panned very hard to the right. It does not sound good as the panning goes a bit too much to the right, it gives a sense of leaning. After one minute and around 50 seconds later I sit here and feel empty. This probably was meant as an intro song for a Demo, judging from the song name. It's not an awful tune, but it does not fit very well as a cool off tune but definitelly good for a demo. This song uses some quite OK samples and drum loops in 16-bit and 8-bit. Looking at the samples, I notice the blow instrument I mentioned before was actually an "Indian Choir". All the samples are panned quite OK, but not great. The glissando and vibrato added on the choir samples is pretty nifty but a bit exaggerated. Generally, the harmony and melody is handled quite good and in a way that is fit for this genre. On another note, the drums are clumsilly handled in contrast to the leads. It is for sure the weaker point of this module. The drum loop (on channel 5, or 4 in FastTracker, I think) is out of beat. It sounds OK as it is drenched out in the song. However, it clearly goes out of beat in the last two patterns. I do not have anything more to comment, thank you. // Eagle

Classification: Demostyle/Chiptune Musical Rating: Good The module starts with a synth, bass and a "rolling" chip. A few seconds later it is followed with soft MIDI-like drums, and a very nice chip lead with your typical tone portamento and volume slides. The song is kind of built on the synth, drums, chip and the bass from pattern 4 and 5. And the biggest difference between the followed song is the rather professionally done chip lead. The song is two and a half minute long and is quite average for a demostyle chill module. The panning is OK. The drums are soft and echoing but in general could do good from more variation. The bass is merelly a looped halfpattern being transposed which is OK. A creative lead, a good chill atmosphere, great use of effects is what makes this module excel from your average demostyle tune. Technical Rating: Semi-professional Lots of effects like set volume, volume slides, panning, tone portamento are in use in a very professional way. The reverb created in the lead just out of the use of effects is very powerful. Well done! It shows experience with chips. The balance in the sound is near perfect. Altough this is not an IT module, some more use of volume envelopes could be good on, for example, the bass to create some slight reverb. Instead of duplicating like in pattern 10, the artist could have reused older identical patterns to bring down the file size a few kB. The samples are optimised which is not so surprising for a song that uses chip samples. //Eagle

Classification: Fart Musical Rating: OK OK, I should have figured out what it contained when I saw it. "Prutt" means fart in swedish. You can probably figure out what this is all about, too. The song starts with a man squeezing followed by, surprise, a fart. Obviously, this is a pure joke. An 8-bit sound effect of mediocre quality. I had a laugh in the "what the heck" kind of way. Sounds rather syntetic. The module is 12 seconds long. You need to be able to take a joke to enjoy this one. But I doubt anyone will return to this module, really. It would be worth the time if this module was a song. Actually, the module could have worked as a funny intro to a song about farts. Technical Rating: Amateur The module consists of 3 timed 8-bit samples in a single pattern. One fart sample, one squeeze sample and one sound effect of some sort. Except for the volume control effects and the set speed effect, there's not much on the technical side to comment about. //Eagle P.S. This review was pretty cheap. >:~P

Classification: Minimalistic Ambient Musical Rating: Good A pretty typical (musically) minimalistic ambient piece in the same same style as most of Rikimbo's modules. Perhaps that is not so surprising since Alli-Gee is Rikimbo's little brother. Well, in any case, the mood is dark but yet hopefully reflecting. The melody is structured on a repetive background of bass, piano and strings but made up for by a nice distorted square lead with vibrato. The samples seem to use a lot of New Note Action with long echoing envelopes. This works fine with most of the samples but not with distorted lead, which sounds like it's jumping in volume back and forth all the time which sounds strange and synthetic - especially in the middle parts. Generally, there is a sort of rawness in the song which I can't put my finger on, but it's there. Maybe it's just a matter of experience, but the module is still satisfying to listen to. Technical Rating: Amateur Technically, this is quite well done. Skillful use of Off sets, envelopes and volume control nodes (set volume). The use of speed 13 minimalisates off-beat problems. Try to remove unused samples (Some of the snares in your ITI/XI seem to be unused). If you can, cut down the length of some samples and convert to 8-bit (provided that sample quality is not heavily reduced). Especially sample 15 and 17 could have been optimised to save a few hundred KBs. This is unusual, but I have little to comment on the technical side. Generally, the biggest advice I can give to the author is to keep tracking and learning. Judging from this track, there's a lot of potential in him. //Eagle

Classification: Experimental Mix Musical Rating: Good This is a melody which is pretty cleverlly composed to highlight the rhythm but is let down due to out of tune instruments. The synths are cutting and replaying which highly highlights the rhythm. Yet, this is a quite monotonous song which is mainly featured by rhythm and clever leads. The mood and the theme is pretty neutral. I don't know if I can extract a message from the module, it's more like plain music made for listening and enjoying. The lead is swift and changes seemingly samples all the time. It's unusal to see that lead technique being used outside chips. In this module it is pretty well done. The drums are monotonous and are pretty much just played beat-by-beat. Bassdrum, snare, bassdrum, snare. Some creativity in to the drums would be nice. I noticed that especially the bass was out of tune. Transpose it down 5 steps so that C-5 is not really a G-4. Several of the other instruments were also clearly out of tune. Panning sounds strangelly extreme but does makes it easier to hear the nifty parts in the module. However, the exclusive panning eliminates all feeling of reverb. Technical Rating: Amateur The samples are out of tune, especially the bass, which sounds weird. The synths should also be tuned. The drums and "beep" lead was in tune (or the drums didn't really need to be tuned as they are not melodical instruments). The use of clipping and replaying samples is really clever. With all the aspects from different genre, this module is really unique. Since it is so unique in its mix, I had no idea what to classify it. Most effects in use are note off and volume controlling nodes like volume set or volume slide, so the samples are generally played as is. Some of the high pitch notes could had have some slight vibrato. Otherwise it sounds OK as it is now. Pannings are a little to extreme for my taste. They could have been rounded down to 64 and 192 instead of 0 and 255. If you really want the samples to be strongly separated, use 56 and 200. Otherwise, try to make the pannings slide around in a way you feel fit. Moving pannings makes especially leads more interesting. I have little more to say, this module was pretty difficult for me to review, but it had its good sides and bad sides. A very interesting idea that could be worked on to its perfection. //Eagle

Classification: Ambient Musical Rating: Excellent Ahh, this is one absolutelly wonderful piece of ambient. It just took me a minutes of listening to feel absolutelly at peace with the music in my ear. No music has ever made me feel this homestead and harmonic with myself before. My heart simply melted to the strings. It was love on the first sight. The 12 minutes of this song passed and I was left there smiling of cheer happiness and didn't let any second pass before I turned the module on play and infinite repeat. The song consist mainly of fading strings, a peaceful melody and innovative percussions. The earlier parts have this really unique percussion noise which sounds like an amplified finger gliding on a guitar string combined with flanger. Absolutelly wonderful! The melody makes your fantasy roll with colors. I could think of thousands things which fitted with the song. Mostly about travelling the world, alone and happy. But even thoughts about cuddling with your loved one in the sunset and other happy imaginations passed by. I loved it! Technical Rating: Professional Running the module in speed 3 and tempo 148, I looked at the techniques being in use. I also putted on headphones to hear the panning effects (the speakers of my laptop are too centered in the front for panning effects to be noteable), and was pretty amased by the techniques. The song is panned very nicelly and the strings uses chords two chords of two octaves to give that highly realistic audio. The guitar in the middle of the song is extremly well composed. The flute in the middle of the song, was apparently a chip sample just like instrument 1! I had no idea when I listened to it earlier. The chip was so well composed it sounded just like a flute sample from a synth. The "xylophone" was an echoing beep erasion with 3 morphed variations. It all was amasing to me to see. It reminded me of Purple Motion's techniques. All samples are so well manipulated, they often sound like something completelly else, pannings are very well done and the massive use of effects and envelopes is clearly impressive. The most well composed piece of music I've ever seen, and it's 12 minutes long, too! Some samples were large, especially sample 3. That's the only negative I can think of. Converting sample 3 to 8-bit would be a good idea. I didn't notice any large quality decreasion after convertion, so try that. It decreased the file size with 477KB. //Eagle

Classification: Ambient/Modstyle Musical Rating: Good Short and interesting melody with nice leads but leaves too much to be desired. Feels weak, unpolished and unfinished. The leads slides in pitch in an interesting way. Good piano melodies which puts the overall song into focus. The mood is cold and sad. The violas are very effective. The drums are well improviced. The voilins clips and sound unnatural when listened to closelly. Technical Rating: Amateur Interesting use of Glissando (Tone Portamento) on the leads. Well balanced volume. The pannings are completelly mono which makes the melody pretty bland. Clever use of global volume down. The song mainly consists of a piano, a bassdrum, a snare, a strange viola lead and a violin. The violin loops very unnaturally. Add a bidi-loop so it won't sort of click and jump. By removing almost mute parts (which you don't hear in any case while doing full playback) of samples, e.g. the mute echo of sample 3, you could have decreased the file size with 15% and keep the same quality. Try to find better samples and make your songs longer if you can. This one was simply too short. //Eagle

Classification: Trance Musical Rating: Excellent I didn't believe my ear! This is trance music in such high quality, it could have been on radio! 9 minutes of trance which is perfect for a dance party. The trance song starts pretty traditionally. A mood set with drums jumping in after each second pattern in the first minute. For every minute in the first half of the module, different variations of the theme starts and stops in a well composed way. After half the song, a lead starts which is notice-worthy well panned and draws you into it, like in a sort of trance. For every minute that goes something new pops in, which keeps the listener interested in the song. Good use of special effects in the background makes the song sort of whistle in a 60's alien style. The song begins to end quite abruptly which catches the listener. Technical Rating: Professional Very good use of effects and channel alignment which makes the reviewing part less a struggle for me, hehe. Clever use of morphed samples makes the leads filters in and out. Good panning that improves the song. Interesting use of a sample which seems to have been recorded from a 60's alien attack film. Since this is an Impulse Tracker module, the use of cut off frequency could be used instead of morphed samples. That would decrease compatibility, though, so perhaps it was clever to use them. The module seems adequatelly optimized in any case. Good use of envelopes. Could have used New Note Action unless that would exageratte the reverb. The possibility is still considerable. Nothing much negative to point out. Very well done! COMPATIBILITY WARNING! Several players failed to play this song correctly. I have listed all players below with info on how they performed. WinAmp or ModPlug software are to be recommended for this module. Performance List of players (and trackers): -ModPlug Tracker: No errors. Recommended by author. -ModPlug Player: A single clipping occured which can be eliminated by putting on AGC. Otherwise it played the song well. -DeliPlayer 2: Failed to play the song, suddenly aborted, missed out several parts of the song for unknown reason. -WinAmp: Played the song perfectly. Turn down play volume to 50% to avoid clipping in some parts. -XMPlay: Failed to play pattern 21. Sounded strange in pattern 101, 103 an 104. Playback otherwise OK. //Eagle

Classification: Acid/New Age Musical Rating: Very Good An original and nifty Acid song which is not very far from the excellent. Starts with a gargling (harmonised) string chord and gets quickly accompanied with squeaks and bubbles and a few seconds later with a nice reasonanced gargling (harmonised) sine chord. A nice modern theme which kind of make you think of people walking around with cell-phones amoung large buildings. The rhythm is catchy and nifty which makes you stomp with your feet and dig a little. The percussions gets a little monotonous, though, even though they were finelly managed; yet that only puts your concentration on the gargling melody. The melody is similiar through the song but improved by smart use of effects. The end feels a little too abrupt. A lil echo (replay the same notes 2 beats below in a 1/5 or 1/4 the volume) to round it up a little would be good. Technical Rating: Semi-Pro Clever use of effects on the chords and good organizing of the percussions. Good chooise of samples. The chords echoes improved the leads a lot. A smoothing volume envelope with Note Off on the leads would improve the lead slightly. Smart use of the channels. I liked the use of retrigger note on pattern 4, it makes the bubble sound like a log smacked towards another log. Smart use of glissando (tone portamento) on the leads which makes the leads slide into the new tones. I'd like to see a little compression being done on several samples, especially sample 13, which loops a part which could be halved since the later half is identical with the earlier. That could have saved about 200KB space. Sample 14 could be looped and halved, too. //Eagle P.S. This is the kind of music that fits in when you are driving in a car. Turn it to MP3 and put it on a CD or into your MP3.

Classification: Bass and Drums Musical Rating: Very Good Bump-bap-dip-pssh! The module has a very nice and catchy rhythm which after a minute is accompanied with a very fitting bass riff. The harmony of this module is very good and its simplicity is satisfying and envigouring. The noise of something pressing on something wet makes me think of an industry which presses lemons - which is a fun extra. Reverb effects and some slight panning in the later parts makes so this module does not feel weak. In general this is a pretty good piece of music for its genre. Very bassy. Technical Rating: Amateur However, seeing how this module is tracked is not very impressive. What makes the module sound so good is the good rhythms, the fitting bass riffs and the very good choice of samples, which of course is very, very important. The only effects used were "set volume" and "set panning" (through S8x), I'd like to see more. With the techniques the author used, he could just as well used MOD or S3M. I suggest the author put names on the channels if he used each channel for a single sample/instrument, because that makes it easier for the viewer to see how you planned the module and follow it. Making instruments of the samples and adding envelopes could increase quality of the sound but is in this case not neccessary. Good work with how some samples fades out, followed by a new theme, though, with the same mood. In the ending you use a very strong right panning for the "alien sound"; I suggest making it turn to the right and keeping it more centralized makes the sound more balanced. If not, make the other drums slide to the right temporarily until the "alien sound" starts to fade. That should do the trick! In general I'd like to see more effects be used. This module COULD benefit from envelopes, note fades and frequency filters which you activate by making instruments out of the samples. Add more stereo, too! //Eagle P.S. Turn on your bass expander and start digging! You'll enjoy it! ;)

Classification: Chaotic Demostyle Musical Rating: Good Woah! This module is totally crazy! It sounds like everything is playing completelly randomly! Extremly original! I just can not describe it at all! I do not seem to be able to memorize the melody/random 8-bit samples; and who can blame me? You better see for yourself - you'll definitelly go "what in the bloody world is this?!"! Whether that is a negative "what in the bloody world is this?!" or a positive one is up to you. I enjoyed this... a bit. It may be worth to note that this is Abyss's first module made back in 1990. Very "kewl" module for a beginner. I remember myself making something that went out of beat my first time... Dunlending, I think it was called... but that's another story! Technical Rating: Amateur Well, um, this is the first module of Abyss so there are few effects. The few effects that are used are good, though. Crazy octave techniques and nice "craming" of all the SFX:s. All samples are old 8-bit samples of low 8.2kHz sampling rate which was pretty much standard back in the days of the old ProTracker - which I strongly suspect this module was made with. I guess there are little use in critizing and commenting the technique further of a module made over 15 years ago. //Eagle

Classification: Chip Musical Rating: Very Good A nice, friendly little melody by Hyochan. It is only 40 seconds but loops in eternity. Nice use of chip samples make this sound almost like it used "erasion" samples (Small short samples that are similiar to chip samples but of a bit higher quality and does not loop). Effective, simple and fresh - the common qualities you will see in Hyochan's modules. Since it is only 40 seconds I refrain from describing the melody further. The rhythm is simple but functional. Technical Rating: Semi-Pro Did he eat something with a nice new sauce that day, mayhaps? Nah, I guess it was too boring to give the song a name when you can chip more songs, so the first name that popped up... zwip! "Sagolik Sås" it should be called! Enough about the name, now! Lot's of effects are in use, "set volume", panning, classic chip arpeggio and tone portamento. The use of submelodies which can not be heard increases the power and effect in the melody. The similiar chip lead swap technique improves the lead further. Envelopes makes the leads echo - very good! To summarize: Good technique, simple but nice melody and very nice chip style that even those who prefers studio sound may like. //Eagle

Classification: Ambient/Demo Style/Techno Musical Rating: Good/Semi-Pro This track uses a simple looped melody in 5 minutes. However, unlike what you may think at first when you hear this, you really do not mind all the looping. I'll try to explain why as accurate as possible. It starts out with some percussions, techno effects and synths/strings. The mood is set with a calm and slightly dreamy theme. The techno effects increases and a pling-plong loop starts, which perfectly fits into the theme. It slowly moves on with new old school samples and ends up with a similiar relaxing mood as in the beginning. The melody is easy to listen to and relaxing. It is perfect for those who love ambient and atmospherical modules. Technical Rating: Very Good/Semi-Pro The technical side is very well crafted. The rhythm is very original. Is it 7/4? In that case, the artist has fulfilled something I have newer managed to do despite many trials. =) Lots of Off Set, Tone Portamento and panning effects has been used. The samples seem to wrap up from all sides even as they are rather centered, creating a manual reverb effect. This also means that turning on reverb on your player probably will ruin the panning effects. Samples are all 8-bit but the artist uses so many effects and echoes that you probably would mistake them for 16-bit until you see it for yourself. Nothing feels strange or dirty. The file size is also small, which is a sign of good tracking. Well done! To summarize, this is a very good ambient/demo style/techno module. Give it an ear! //Eagle

Classification: Demo Style Musical Rating: OK/Amateur This is a demo style song that screams retrospective and yet seems original. When I turned it on, I though "Wow! This seems cool!". I was soon to be disappointed. The rhytm in this track is not just a little bit off and the timing of several instruments are poor. The melody could be really cool with all the effects but it turns out just weird due to the mistiming. A track in demo style that could be really, really good but the artist failed to make it so. Some parts of the track are quite interesting, though. The gargling background sounds and the drums are quite professionally done. And the later patterns are OK to listen to. Technical Rating: Good/Amateur The technical side is not too uninteresting. Lots of volume slides and volume sets are being used. It's a shame that there are no echoes or panning effects being used to add to the depth. Some tone portamento and Midi Macros would had added to it all a bit. The songs loops pretty naturally. When it comes to samples, there are only two 16-bit samples. Usually 8-bit samples does not bring down the score but if the lead instruments, like the harpsichord, had been of higher quality it would had improved the sound slightly. An echo could had done a great improvement otherwise. I am not too sure if all samples listed were in use, possibly wasting space. To summarize things: A very good idea performed poorly. Work on your tracking skills. A tips to the author, add song information in the sample section, too. //Eagle

Classification: Demostyle Musical Rating: Excellent/Professional This module is perfect for someone who looks for something real retro. 4 channels, 8-bit samples and loads of effects gives this module a very classic sound - like if it came from an Amiga/Game Boy Advance. But it is not the classic sound that makes this song worth its 9, it is the excellent and varying styles and melodies that make this song a good pick for your collection. Running in 125bpm and various speeds (3 or 4 mostly), the module starts with quite happy theme. Then a more mystical sounds floats in and takes over for a minute and then suddenly stop with a calm fantasy-like theme. It sorts of gives an image of pilgrim taking courage to accomplish a dream. A few tens of seconds later, this comes to a stop, speeds up and a speedy rock theme starts. Some seconds later the song ends and leaves me there wanting for more. Technical Rating: Excellent/Professional Wow, the four channels are cramed with tons of effects, samples and manual echoes. The sound is very filly and impressive. A work of a professional, indeed! Uses lots of small 8-bit samples of minimum sampling rate. Clever handling of channels. Could be even better if it used more panning effects. However, there are too many effects in the song to let them in, so the author probably would had to sacrifice quality for panning effects, so I think it is too much to ask for. Otherwise, I can't find anything bad to point my finger at. In fact, everything in this song is positive. //Eagle
