I agree with Yomaru, this is an excellent mix of trance and electronica with a great beat to dance to. It's definitely on my rotation when I'm on the stair stepper.

If they took out Conan the Barbarian's music and replaced it with this, I would buy it. No, really though, "Homeland" by Pinion is an excellent tour de force of drums and midieval-high tech fusion composition, which comes off as a song about a hero returning from a long quest abroad. Really, it's good. It's a ten, for sure. One of the sorely underappreciated hits from the old skool days of tracking.

It's easy to miss this group as it was last seen back in the PRIMORDIAL days of tracking, but in my opinion, however amateurish it sounds? Get anything made by Pinion. Pinion was known for their stunning high quality songs, and Seven Wonders is no exception. Seven Wonders is an object lesson in good percussion and you can learn a lot about arrangements in this song. In addition to being a good tune, the instruments go together perfectly. It's the kind of song you'd expect to hear at the opening of a movie. You would NOT think this is a mod...

Open your mind! Really. Download this mod. Basehead worked alongside top artist Necros back in the old days of tracking, as part of the Five Musicians group. I've actually helped a malfunction-stricken DJ at a party once by playing this song while he got his sh** fixed. People thought this was off some kind of CD. Nobody would have believed it was "computer music", because it isn't. You can say Necros is better than Basehead but only by the margin of a gnat's behind. "Open Your Mind" is a grand tour through the countryside of excellent trance music composition, offering a stunning level of variety to go along with the good music and beats. It's as awesome now as it was over a decade ago; moreso, because you'll realize when you download this that what you've heard lately only pales in comparison to this.

Necros is the Himalayas of mod composition, and "Ascent of the Cloud Eagle" is Mount Everest. This is by far the best mod ever produced, ever, period. If you pass by this mod without downloading and taking a listen, you're seriously missing out on an audio experience and a great lesson in composition. This goes far beyond a mere mod; it is something you would expect to hear in a movie soundtrack... at the very least. The mod community lost out in a horrible way when Necros retired from the scene and went professional.

I remember when I first downloaded this years and years ago, it's a number by a guy named Necros aka Andrew Sega. This is the OLD SKOOL of trax... some of you guys weren't even born when these primordial hits were rocking the scene. You owe it to yourself to get ANYTHING by Necros or Basehead or their Five Musicians group... this stuff is an object lesson in advanced music composition. Nothing made today even comes close to this quality.
