neodrink is one of my all time favourite modules, and is really impressive from a technical point of view. The fact that fleshbrain managed to compose a 15 minute track, with constant variation on limited hardware and only 4 channels is a feat of skill and talent. The composition of this module is outstanding.
Technique, Arrangement, Composition (10/10)
The module itself doesn't use any complex effects or pattern jumping, but the composition of this module is what really stands out in my opinion. The flow and constant evolving composition of this track is what makes it stand out from the rest, the fact that the artist managed to make a track 15 minutes long, which is not only interesting, but it still feels like you're listening to the same piece of music.
Development (7/10)
The mix itself is decent, but as a 4 track .MOD file originally for the Amiga it does suffer from the lack of decent panning, which I understand is a limitation of the hardware. However, I wish the drums were a little more balanced, maybe across multiple channels if possible.
The sample loops aren't perfect, and they are a bit grainy, but it's not really noticeable when listening to the music itself.
Creativity (9/10)
The module uses some interesting drum delay effects (such as in pattern 11 and 26) giving them accent and emphasis which makes the drums even more punchy and energetic. The transitions and melodic layering are quite unique and help resolve build-ups and maintain the flow of the music.
The main part which stands out for me is in pattern index 1F, where the build-up is resolved with an arpeggiated soft synth melody, which is then layered with a distorted guitar sample, creating this really satisfying outcome.
Enjoyment (10/10)
The module is really varied for its length, size, and sample count, and is one of my all time favourite modules. This module should be in everyone's collection, no doubt about it. I continue to listen to it on the regular and cite it as a major influence.
