This track is an excellent example of how trackers can be made to full use. Sounds so atmospheric and beautiful and very 'full'.
So many effects, different panning, randomised volume on instruments, randomised panning on an instrument, good instruments to complement each other.
Strong points:
- the use of stereo samples
- the use of FX sounds does not absolutely destroy the track, but instead complements it
- everything blends well together
- no EQ problem (to me anyway)
- there is a good general theme to the entire song
- sounds atmospheric
- instruments complement each other well, and are appropriate
Weak points:
I don't really know myself! It is good all-round.
Technique, Arrangement, Composition (10/10)
I'm not really a musical expert on this, but let's just say the composition uses a lot of 7ths and 9th chords. So, it gives that kind of vibe of a "dreamy" sound or a chill vibe.
I see a lot of note off and note fade commands. A ton of em. I rarely ever use them, so I suppose I could learn a thing or two from this.
I can't really say much on this, there is definitely skill but I can't point out exactly what is the skill. Everything combined as a whole makes the
Development (10/10)
I feel that there are no problems in terms of EQ. It is well balanced throughout the frequencies. Most of the samples sound REALLY high quality and clean. Even though some of them have loop points that aren't too great on their own, but when blended together with everything, you don't notice it!
The transitions between patterns are very smooth - nothing absolutely abrupt. It keeps the theme and the flow of the track. The panning is just lovely, it feels so atmospheric.
Creativity (10/10)
The stereo samples really did the heavy lifting in this one, along with some panning of the channels. I like the highly randomised volume of the hi-hat, gives the listener a feeling of a real player.
All the instruments fit with each other, I must say. They don't stand out so badly, they really complement each other. I also really liked the use of FX sounds like schwoooo sound.
Enjoyment (10/10)
This is the kind of music I would definitely use on a road trip of some sort or while playing Euro Truck Simulator 2. It is rather calming and slow, and not too "loud" at any part. Uses a lot of synths and electronic instruments.
I like how the patterns are just slightly different at each section whilst keeping the general "theme". This, to me, is good, so it's not too repetitive.
