Good start to the piece, which unfortunately doesn't live up to expectation. A short track, just over 2min, with about 20 secs of that being a long fade out. Musically, a little confusing; after 45 secs or so, the chord sequences sound extremely out of tune; somewhat disconcerting after a reasonably established harmonic base. Could do with improvement. The samples and instruments used in this track are reasonable quality, and their use (especially the melody and drum samples) have been well thought-out. Not many used, but more would have been unnecessary.

A solid track, starts with promise and doesn't let you down. Very in-gamey-type tunes, although perhaps this style is a little dated. Nice tempo change just after the start, good use of harmonies - can see this in perhaps a FPS or platform type game. Melodically, not the best of directions, but is still pleasant nevertheless. Nice sample qualities and output, well used throughout this track. Again, not sure of originality but the sounds are good quality and their use has been well implemented.

Generally a short, quite simple track, using a good fairly fast drum beat and a reasonably melodic output. It loops to the start after 1bout 1m40s, and because of the length, doesn't realy have a chance to get involved in anything. Consequently, after two or three loops, it becomes repetitive and boring. All in all, a 'nice' mod. Good percussive instruments, and well used. Steady beat, the melodic and enhanced samples are generaly OK, not sure of their originality.

Now this is very nice and refreshing piece of music. It is quite artistic actually and it is hard for me to categorize it into any specific style. It has a popish drums behind, but the piano and strings are special enough to make this song interesting... Never heard of this artist before and at least this moment I cannot find him from our artistlist. The intropart consists from really nice pianos and from spooky string. The beginning actually sounds like from some sort of scarymovie.=) You know, like from the moment, where innocent young woman is travelling in the dark house and has no idea that a lunatic killer is behind the corner... Well, then the mood relaxes a bit when the drums come along and the piano gets a little more happier attitude. Some sort of cello in the background sounds nice too. Now the song rolls on for a while without major changes, but then... Towards the end that piano gets high and the athmospehre is hypnotic. I really enjoyed the ending. It was effective enough to give you that "close-your-eyes-and-enjoy"-feeling.=) Overall very nice tune, but may not open to everyone. Worth checking. Tracking was simple actually. Drums remained almost similar through the song, but then again piano was used very well and it varied a lot. Samples were 8-bit quality except for the pianos and strings. Artist didn't used many effects, but who cares? this track works perfectly without those too.=) Nothing to complain, nothing special to flatter about. Good job, hope to find some more of this guys works.=)

There is actually very little to say about this song. I have no idea that who composed this song, but he/she did left a note into message-editor : "I've fallen in love. *sigh*". Probably explains why artist made a simple ballad.=) The song itself is very small package, but it remains sympathetic in some way. It is composed with piano and string. Artist used both instruments in very simple way, managed to create something cute. Nice, but short little tune with emotions involved. Worth listening maybe, but hardly worth keeping.=) Sorry about that. Nothing major here either. As said, there was only two instruments used. Both were 8-bit quality and pretty basic overall. No effects, but the use of piano was ok. Strings were too simple and could have used more effectively. With the lenght of 1.36, this song ends up quickly. Nothing more to say.

This has some great arrangments to the tracks, it has an interesting melody to it, but no follow ons from the melody. All the same, it is a professionally made track. it os uptempo with a solid structure to the beats and other synth arrangements. It has a little dark edge to it, but, (in my opinion) it is far from dark. it is clean and crisp, plays smooth and sounds smooth too. no overrated samples or panings... Technically; the artist has made good use of the effects such as offset and doubleing up to create a bouncing reverb effect with a pan effect therin. Much work and thought has been placed on the overall effects and most imporantly, Volumes. Some samples however didn't seem to make the impact i would have liked. For example, i went through them all one by one, and some were really great vocle lines, but i didn't notice them within the track as broadly as i would have expected to have. All said, there isn't a very lot to improve on, no reall flaws in this one. it works very well throughout! :)

This song is John's first one ever. I couldn't find him from our artist list at least with his real name, so I guess that he ain't the most active tracker among us.=) But I think he should. If this really is his first song , he could be anything with little practising. This is a very promising song from a new guy...=) This ballad begins with the best thing of this song : Soft strings and a lovely "pianobell" (dunno the instruments official name). It just sounds so damn great. Then the artist begins to add more spices to this soup. Normal piano and flute enters to this calm soundscape. There is also some percussions. Rimstick and Shake, which is in a way too bad, since I can imagine a great and powerful drums into this song or then there shouldn't be any percussions at all. Well, it goes ok with this way too.=) The melodies are quite good. I think that the artist does play some instrument in real life, or then he is a gift of nature. On the other hand, I've heard songs before where newbies have created something very beautiful, just with the power of love.=) And with that I mean that when there is a strong emotions behind composing, it always sounds nice.=) After listening through this piece, I was left with a good feeling. This song surely ain't anything magnificent, but it is good enough to download and listen. Hope to hear more from this guy someday.=) Technically this song ain't nothing special. It is quite simple with the same background all the time, simple percussions and quite "normal" leads. The piano that was chosen to this piece wasn't the best one. It is little out of tune and does not sound so smooth than the other samples. But when thinking that there was only 6 samples used (one 8-bit and rest 16-bit), the result is ok.=) Some slides were used from effects but overall the tracking was pretty basic stuff. Nice job anyway.=)

Here we have another old 4-channeled ProTracker module. And pretty boring one too. This track represents the style of that old synthpop that soooo many old modules do. But still.. Lets take a closer look shall we? As the song starts to go on, it sounds ok.. Strings, bass and a flute have a big part here. A lousy snare in the background is tapping and a saxophone (bad) visits once in a while. The speed of this song is pretty low and that makes my feelings of boredom even stronger. Musically this ain't so awful song, sometimes it manages even sound ok, but if we judge by the entirety, this song is below average. So if you are into these old modules and got time and interest to listen - why not? You can't lose that much comparing that on how stupid things we sometimes can spend our time...=) An old 4-channel module with old 8-bit samples. Basic compilation of bass strings and some leadsamples. I was by the way waiting for some more percussions, but the only one was actually that snare I was talking about. Some use of effects was also used in this song, but the artist cannot be proud in anyway about it. It was so minor. Well, I guess thats about it. Your choice now.=)

Oh Lord Jesus Christ! I love this song... I've never heard of MoeRD before, but this song proves at least to me that he is one helluva tracker. Especially from the musical point of view. This song is simple, yet so beautiful that I just have to listen to this over and over again...*sigh* This soft piece of music starts with a lovely, but simple pianopattern. It is followed by some strings, that fill the air slowly. But just when I started to enjoy this song, the artist still adds amazingly lovely choirstrings and at this point I'm so sold that...Gaah! Basically this song is nothing more than piano and strings, but for me it works perfectly - I never even expected any percussions to appear. Chords and that same piano that travels through this song works fine for me. Despite the fact that there ain't lots of samples, there is plenty of variation in this song. The athmosphere in this song almost gave me the chills and the feeling that this track gave to me is something very strong. Maybe the artist had some personal feelings behind this song. For me it sounds like that. But let us not speculate these things. Let's just sit back, relax and enjoy from this wonderful piece of music, but first remember to add some volume since this sounds better with high volume.=) Well, well, well... Artist only used 10 instruments, but that was enough for him / her. 8-bit quality sometimes means blury sounds, but not this time, everything sound great. There wasn't used effects almost at all. Just some fadings and volume settings, but who needs those into this style of music? I don't. Technical side suffers a bit from the lack of technics, but it would be unfair to judge this song because of that. So, I will give a 9 to this, but it might actually be even worth 9.5.=)

Those of you that already are familiar with this artist Kyd - you can start downloading.=) And you others, let me tell you that this guy was / is such a great composer that gees... Like, for example, Deathjester, this guy also has a very nice and different style in his songs. Those sound more like exploring the music, not music itself.=) Did I made myself clear now? *wondering* This track begins with vibrating strings that seems to be quite usual for Jesper? Then in a small time, the listener can hear some ambient elements and even that famous "C&C Music Factory"-guitar. But so far the speed has been quite slow and the mood pretty tame, yet pretty nice with strings and vibrating lead. 4 minutes has passed and something starts to happen. The song begins to gather some rave / dance influences.=) For a moment the song is actually even danceable and it is nice to wait that what is still coming up since this track lasts 8 minutes. But nothing dramatic happens. Leadsample visits sometimes and there is some nice "part-time"-patterns once in a while. And eventually you can hear how the song ends pretty suddenly.=) So, 8 minutes passed and I would like to hear some more. I really like Jesper's music since it really is different if you compare it to the mainstream of mods. I recommend this everyone. Small size, Big song.=) Yeah, I'm quite sure that this guy has tracked before too. He uses effects nicely in leads and strings and I just love the samples that he chooses. If you listen them one by one, you could probably think that is it really possible to create something from these, but at least this guy created. Very nice style of tracking. Experimental and different, but still works really well and is in balance. Right.

So bad! The original song is great and this is so bad... The bass melody isn't correct, the drums sound awfull and Cobain's Guitar doesn't sound like a real guitar... The tech rating is good, but the sample representing Cobain's guitar sounds awful and also the cymbal is very unrealistic and unsuitable for this song...

Xerion is an "oldtimer" from USA. With oldtimer I mean that he has been tracking for 12 years so far, so the music he produces should be pretty good. According to his artistpage he likes new age and jazz. Probably you can hear those influences in his music.=) This song has no actual intro, it just raises quite fast into beginning and when it has started, you can already tell, that this guy has done some music before. Nice percussions, chords, melodies and strings are in the air. Oh yes...But hey! What now? It ended? Gees... No, the song is 4 minutes long and nothing actually happened yet, so where is the problem? There that this song did not get my attention, but television without sound did.=) So I start to listen this song all over again. I listen to it now three times. I still think that it is wonderful song. Everything is fixed up and I cannot find any flaws. I actually get this feeling that if Moby would still be in the scene, he might do something like this. Especially the strings give me this feeling. This song uses many samples and there is lot of variation, but it also rides itself through with pretty minor changes.. You know what I mean. The song does not repeat itself, but it seems that it would just play on and on and then it ends. It stands still! There it was.=) But hey, very nice work anyway.=) Yeah... There can be lots of stuff in 4 minutes. This song has "normal" amount of everything. I mean the effects were used, but it wasn't tricky yet. Tracking was very well done, but still it was clean and so on. So if we put those together - it means that everything was in balance.=) Samplequality was something from 8 to 16- bit. Overall this song was extremely well done and composed, it just didn't reached my "I-love-this"-button. Too bad in a way, but I'm quite sure that many of you readers like this.=) Worth checking.

This old module is from the year 1989.=) Pretty old I'd say. And it also sounds like it. Samples sound SO old that I got huge urges to get my amiga from the closet and start to play some sort of PD-game.=) In the year -89 this song probably was good. I personally can remember that I have played games where this kind of music played in the background. But now when you listen to it - nothing saves it. Well, at least from my point of view. And I usually am the one who really likes to listen old modules if the music itself is good. But this one is boring and sad and pathetic. Drums, strings and flute and so on. Nothing wrong actually, but somehow the artist has managed to put up a song that just doesn't work for me. Can't really tell what it is. Basically this is a simple slow pop song - nothing more. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. No effects, 8-bit samples of course and lame in every way. I still would like to say that there is nothing special wrong in the song, but it just is not good.=) Got my point? And for some reason my XM-Play does not play this song. Big lost.=)

I couldn't find this Wipestar from our artistlist so I guess that he is just a sundaycomposer or perhaps a newbie that is still waiting a reaction for his / her songs.=) Well here it comes Wipestar...=) In the beginning there were low strings that filled the air and the there was a nice synthbeep that came along with piano. This combination sounds actually pretty nice.=) Now the drums appear. It is very simple, maybe even too simple - bassdrum and snare. But it is ok, it is not annoying. The thing that almost annoys me is that when the leadguitar starts to play. It just does not fit in my ears on this song. Especially when the sample ain't the best one. When the samples are ok otherwise but the guitar is taken from some old amigamodule from the year -82 or something it just... Well, doesn't fit.=) When this guitarpart is over (it ends like into the wall) the song already begins to fade away. After the song is over, which btw lasts for 3 minutes, I listen to it couple times more. In the first time I noticed the things that I liked but now I'm finding those flaws. The guitar still annoys me, song is quite repetitive actually and now those drums start to feel boring. That's it. Despite these facts there are some good moments in this song too. I liked the background although it is the same through the song, and this track works pretty nicely for the first and maybe even the second time I listened it. This is one of those songs that just are. Not that bad , but not that good either. Samples that were chosen were pretty nice except for that guitar. Otherwise the instruments fitted in pretty well. The sample quality was totally 8-bit, but it still sounds ok. This artist didn't used effects and I think that at the time he/she has released this song, tracking was pretty new thing to him/her. Some nice ideas and melodies, but you still need more tracking. Keep on going Wipestar.=)

Well, MomofranZ is surely a great tracker. I've never heard a bad song from him. This piece of classical music is no exception. A lovely soft and ethereal song with high quality instruments. Cello, piano, strings, clarinet and flute are the ones that create a beautiful athmosphere. The song begins with a piano that is followed by a cello and soon after that strings come along and for a moment this track sounds very powerful. Then it chills out and starts to play with piano. Time after time flute visits and soon there is a gathering of all instruments.=) But since this song lasts only 2 and a half minutes - the song already starts to fade away, when you really begin to listen that what is coming up next. But hey, you can easily listen this song few times in a row.=) This track does not offer actually anything special in a musical way. Don't get me wrong this IS a good song, but you should not wait anything major either.=) Lovely melodies with lovely backgrounds. This song is very well made in every way...Well I could like it more if it was a bit longer, but maybe I should just accept the facts. A very nice relaxing piece to the world of computermusic that so often really sounds like it is made with computer.=) Good job overall. Nothing to complain actually. Lots of instruments was used and all of 'em are 16-bit so the soundworld is very pure and real. Tracking was good in every way and effects that were used sounded nice and were also added in to right places. Nothing disturbes the listeners ear and one can just sit back and enjoy. I'll probably listen more of this guys compositions soon.=)

A nice sounding tune. It's not too exciting, and doesn't change that much. It's nice to sit back and listen to. It has a very "undersea" feeling throughout. The lead trumpets (or whatever those are...) give it a kind of Latin or Carribean feeling. It's kind of short, only 2:27, but it's good enough that you'll want to loop it anyway. :) Nicely done here. One thing I noticed was that the one of the background parts, using the first synth, was split up into 8 tracks. This would make sense if the panning was different on each track, but the panning is all set in the middle. I'd say Xerion would only need 4 tracks for that at the most, with that kind of panning. The samples are all good, no complaints there. Effects are all used well. As I said before, though, I don't think he needs 32 tracks. Some of the things could fit into other tracks with no problem.

Listening a couple times to this tune, and more You listen, more You like it. It has an addictive power. As a CHIP tune, I could imagine a fast-paced game for it. I feel it's too short, a couple variations, or introducing new instruments could make this song more powerful... This little tune comes from TwiTerror, enjoy it. The samples are nice and clean, no noise. Using both 16 an 8 bit samples, which shows the artist used different sources. They blend together, and that's what matters. Not much effects, some panning and that's it. Because of 3 big samples on 22KHz sampling frequency, the size of the mod is 140Kb, which is too big for a CHIP. It can be hardly used in a 4k demo... There are 8 patterns, but only 7 used in the song. The 8th is a short finish, in case of use, the song should be a lot longer...

I don't know why, but this one reminds me a bit of Lizardking... And that makes it cool. :) It's a bit long, at 8:37, but definitely keeps you interested for all eight minutes. It's not really repetative at all, at least it changes enough that it doesn't seem repetative. The female singing at the beginning and very end gives it a nice intro and ending. At about the 5:30 mark, it slows and quiets down a bit, and it seems like it may be the end. It isn't, however, and the music builds until about 6:30, when it comes back in full force. This one is very nice to listen to, and anyone who likes metal or that "doskpop" type of sound (I thought it sounded a bit like that at least...) will love this module. Very nicely done technically. Nice use of effects, especially volume slides and panning. I love the samples in this module as well, especially the four Slide samples. Makes me want to just rip them right out... er... *ahem* :P Anyway... This one definitely deserves a solid 10.

The music is good and relaxing at the beggining. That it changes to a fast party music(which I like very much). Some electric guitars appear from time to time. Not a bad song. But the piano melody from the beggining repeats over and over until the end. There must be some variations in that melody. Anyway, the song is good. Nothing special in the tech side of the song. Even simple effects aren't added. The samples are good which is positive for the song. There are 4 channels - pretty simple song it is.

This is not an author song, but it's not a ripped one too... The song is an old song of Nirvana(tha band of Kurt Cobain). There is absolutely no need to discuss the music - it's simply awesome!!! The two trackers, that tracked it just wanted to create an instrumental version of the Nirvana's song... Good work I must say! I'm giving it 9.5 only because it's not an author song(it deserves 10 really) The technical side of the song is very good. The samples with really high quality. Also it's very hard to suit samples for a song, that had been played by proffesional artists... I think there should be more songs like these, for example right now I'm making System Of A Down - Chop Suey mod. I'm sure, that many of you will like to listen instrumentals of famous songs, so they can learn playing them.

First of all, I'm going to start this review by saying how apalled I was at the prior review of this song, which was brief, inaccurate, and lowballed. Now for the review... Musically, this song has the distinction of having a superlative melody, for being ultrafast techno (circa 1995). It rocks from the get-go, and is a very repeatable listen despite the fact it is a brief and repetetive song, due to how the simplistic samples are manipulated throughout the song to give them a rich and varying tenor. Aryx has the honor of being the ModPlug player pack-in song for good reason - it's good, it's small, and it is a tutorial in itself if you download a tracker and give it a once-over. This song is one of the many examples of Karsten's tracking expertise (Chronologie, Leaving All Behind, and The Hidden Empire are all case-in-points), and it is a neat little toon that has lot's of superlative tracking tricks that caught me off guard. What Karsten does is use a tremolo effect - duplicating the same note and sample in another sound channel to richen the sound, and he also takes two different samples which are essentially the same sample with a slight variation in pitch and overlays them in alternating stereo channels, which richens the sound even further - accomplishing effects few mod composers have ever dreamed of.

I want to say that this is classical, but in parts it has a bit of a pop-like sound, especially in the middle. It's a very nice module, whatever genre it is. :) The piano, and flute give it a nice feeling, and make it sound kind of bouncy in the middle part. The rest of the time they add to the nice classical feel, along with the violin. Although I usually don't like synths in a classical song, the ones here fit in very well. Nicely done technically. The samples are all very nice. Panning is not too exciting, as it is just in the middle. Nice usage of volume fades and slides. One thing I noticed was that at the end, there is about 20 seconds or so of silence. I'd reccommend cutting the last pattern short, since cRim used patterns that were quite long. Otherwise, it's a great song, and definitely worth a listen.

This is an excellent tracking of Sakamoto's "Forbidden Colours" - Intelligence does a great job of seamlessly piecing together this breezy, dreamy song. A couple of the samples really give away the fact that they are only 8-bit, sounding a little raspy and choppy, but it ends up giving the song that unmistakable early 80's synth sound. If you are an ambient fan, then this song will probably be an enjoyable download for you. A couple of industrial instruments are in this song also, as well as a potent bassline, which I found very evocative. 26 channels fully utilized in patters 0-2 (of 26), with examples of excellent volume control and channel switching for stereo effects show that Intelligence is an experienced tracker. It doesn't look like this song was too great of an effort to churn out, but it nonetheless works beautifully. For examples of his true tracking expertise, check out Project Ozma and Legendaric.

Flyingh and Merlin are 2 German trackers and at least at the time of this song was composed, they belonged to the group called "Fatal Progress". After listening this song pretty many times, I think that these guys can come up with something.=) The beginning ain't that promising. A pianopattern almost broke my head, and when it ended and I started to live again, it began all over.=/ But! What kind of man can't survive from this? Actually the song gets pretty nice quite soon after that pianosection. A nice steady drumline behind, lovely sampled female choir in the air and a deep synth in the background sounds really good to me.=) Then begins the string-section. Drums bang and strings that sounds ok are in the lead here. Then again a tiny point of choir and then the song changes again. This time into that annoying pianopart again. And then the song begins to end... Well... Er, now was this good or not? I'm not quite sure.=) You see, this song has some really nice parts like that choir-thingie and so on, but then again that piano just doesn't work for me and it actually sounds pretty odd, when you first hear some music with dark athmosphere and suddenly a bright and fast pianopattern cuts the air. A matter of taste of course , but I didn't liked it.=) Well, although I give a 6 to this it might be worth 8 or 4. Get this and decide. Pretty small amount of samples used here, but then again some 16-bit samples were used. Maybe the amount of samples made this song sound pretty empty? That sampled choir sounded great and fitted well to the song. The use of effects? -Pretty minor. I would really like to hear an improved version from this song. Some more samples, different pianos and this might sound very good. A nice beginning, but that is just how it still sounds.=/ Too bad.

A good popish song with a nice beat. The main beat is from the drums and what sounds like a tambourine. The synths start from the very beginning with a nice lead. It sounds a bit like a love song, and judging from the title, it might be... The melody is a bit catchy, which is never bad. :) Although it's a bit short at 2:43, it's nice to listen to a few times. I'm always amazed at Stamen. This one is a 4 track .mod, made on an Amiga, with ProTracker, and is still an amazing piece of work! Interestingly, it was released in 1999 as well... He packs so much into 4 tracks that I can hardly follow the music in the editor! Needless to say, it's very well put together, with good, although old, samples. There's no way I can't give this a high score! :)

Well, what can I say... Anyone who knows Purple Motion knows that he does music the right way. This song is no exception. It's a bit of a jazz and rock fusion, with very nice percussion that makes it sound very seasidey (if that's a word... :) ). The saxophones add the jazzy feel. Any seaside hotel that jazzes like this is one I'd like to go to! :) Very nicely put together. Samples are good quality. Very nice use of volume slides and other effects, especially around the third minute. I can't really complain and that's not fair. There's not enough to write here... :)

Well, according to Starboy's artistpage he is a newbie in trackingscene. It can be noticed from this song well, but hey, that doesn't mean that this would be a bad song.=) Let's have a look, that what we have here.... The beginning ain't promising I must say.=) Annoying synthtrack plays couple of times until strings appear. Well, those appear and fade away almost immediately. But then percussions start to come along. And it is actually quite amazing that those lame strings and that annoying synthtrack together with drums actually sounds pretty nice.=) Although this song is actually very repetitive and long (almost 8 minutes), it somehow doesn't start to bore me. I mean those same strings and synths appear time after time with no bigger variation. Maybe it is because the lovely background. It is filled with percussions and a deep bassline. If anyone remembers those 80's little underground discocompilations like "Beat Box Mix" and others, well this is something that reminds me of those. I still love that kind of music and StarBoy has managed to create that "something" to this track. I don't expect that this is something that everyone would like. This is a discotrack with very simple musical points, but it has that honest and innocent groovy feeling what comes often when eager to make music is bigger than skills or equipment.=) Well, er, ummm... Can't really say that much from the technics. Since the artist is a newbie he didn't used effects that much. Tracking was very simple, but Starboy has a nice sense of rhythm. I just loved that funky background.=) Samples were both 8- and 16-bit. Soundworld wasn't so "new". Without that creepy synthline this wouldn't sound so much like some sort of computermusic. But I do have to complain about some things too Starboy.=) Try to be more creative next time and add some variation. Use strings more effective since those add huge amounts of feelings to songs. Don't use that synthsample again ;) and please keep that great percussion-thingie in your head.=) You got potential.

Off Limits is a team of 2 young Norwegian guys called Paladin and Whispering Elf. I was a bit sceptic first from their songs (propably because of they are so young - sorry about that), but I was so wrong. I checked 2 of their songs and I must admit that those weren't bad at all.=) This track "Vigour" begins with waving synthstrings and builds itself up quite soon to the world of fast paced computer trance. With that odd term I mean the kind of trance that sounds more like computer music than the kind of stuff that is played in real clubs. So on we go. The athmosphere is pretty neutral in a way until some sort of piano appears to the music. It gives a nice ethereal taste to otherwise so "hard" soundworld. This is the point that I enjoyed most. After listening this song 'bout 10 times, I'm starting to feel that this is actually quite good module. Maybe just a bit repetitive, but it still works ok. Maybe because of the style and synths in the background I get a feeling that there is something same here than in Westbam's songs. Take that as a compliment.=) With the lenght of 3.34 this song does not start to bore you. There's no melody that would play on and on. Artists got just enough variation to this piece. Panning was good and it gave a nice fluffy feeling to the music in some places. Effects were used properly and technics were overall under control. If there has to be something to complain about, then I would turn to the samples - especially to drums. Maybe its just me, but I find those a bit unclear and.. I don't know. Somehow it sounds like that something has eaten the power out of those? Well, who knows? Anyway this track was pretty nice and I could recommend it to almost anyone.

I was searching for artists without reviews and founded this artist called SpeCi. I got curious when I noticed that this song had almost 2000 hits and the others were on their first hundreds. So I decided to listen to it and I'm glad I did - It was a top 10 song from april 2002 and the only one without a review.=) So I started to listen. The song begins nicely with deep synths and it also has a small 303-loop that sounds nice. I'm beginning to wait something a bit deeper trance but after a moment the melodies start to play and I'm convinced that "Yeah, pretty surely this more like danceable trance..."=) The melody in the chorus is actually very good. I liked it very much. The song has a quite happy feeling and athmosphere except when it slows down and is beginning to raise. In those parts it sounds darker, but anyway I enjoy my listening and find nothing to complain... When the song reaches 3.30 I'm actually quite finished with this piece and started to wait that it ends, but hell, the song lenght is over 5 minutes... So is something special coming up? Nope. The could be finished after 4 minutes, but once again it slows down and builds up till the end. This track also won a trance-compo that was hosted by Vortex Records so it can't be good just from my opinion. I'm quite sure that most of you all will find this piece as a very good song. Very well worth checking.=) This song was tracked well, it had no flaws and it used almost everything that it had to. I especially liked the samples that created the melodies. Those were clean and effective enough to create filled but still soft soundworld. Sometimes I listened to the drums and wondered that would I like if there was more of 'em, but never got to the solution, so maybe this way is the best. Huge amount of panning was used and that was the "major" thing from the point of effects. Samples were chosen well and the mix of 8- and 16-bit samples sounded great. I can't complain about anything from this song. It was simply good.

Have you ever heard of artist called Smirk? Have you liked his music? Well, then you propably gonna like this one too. J/M/T/M is very promising artist if I can tell that by listening just one of his songs. Anyway he has also a rare style to make music or...Well, is this actually music? Who knows, but lets think that it is.=) As the song begins, it breaks the silence with analog synths that sound pretty nice and after a while a nice breakbeats come along. Well, couple of breaks and one full break at least.=) This track doesn't try to create any sticky melodies or anything but it plays with the samples with a very hilarious way. In this track one can hear some psychedelic silence but also a soundworld that is filled to the top. This song ain't rhythmic in a traditional way, but it doesn't get messy either. Very fresh and enjoyable piece of wierd ambient. Artist himself writes in his artistpages that one loves or hates his music. Well, I didn't loved this track, but I enjoyed from it very much.=) But despite the fact of weirdness considering this song, I do recommend that everyone should at least try this. Who knows, you might like it.=) If this song had some great musical points, it also works very well from the technical side. Huge amount of slides were used in the synths and it gave a nice hallucinating effect to this piece. I also liked the way how artist used drums. Enough variation with a small work. And as I mentioned before something about the rhythm of this piece... The tempo in this song was also a bit different, the song runs with a changing speed of A04-A08 and so on.It was also a nice small detail, that gave its own taste to this strange soup. Good job from my point of view, or hearing.

This song is a quality metal. The intro is not very good because of the poor combination between acoustic and distorted guitars. There are some good guitar solos trough the song. The combination of guitars and drums after the intro is great. A very proffesional song.. I was impressed, that good song like this can have only 8 channels. The artist used many different effects including(but not only)glissando, vibrato, tempo changes and others... All the samples are very good except the acoustic guitar samples, which don't fit with the electric guitar in the intro of the song. After the intro the song becomes rather more interesting. It can never be decided as 'boring',because there are many different patterns in it. Everything except the intro seems great!

The tune begins with a sense of darkened urgency which quickly draws into a comical lighthearted theme consisting mainly of a sharp synth instrument located on a blanket of lots of 'soft' sounds. I particularly enjoy the central section of the song where a mythical sounding fade begins to haunt the pleasent sound, the actual music quality of the song begins to drop towards the end giving the impression the final section was a struggle for inspiration. The song uses a lot of vibrato which leads to the slightly unorthodox modern chiptune sound, however there are also a lot of re-triggered notes which helps the song maintain it's balance throughout. Technically the song quite good and begginers can learn a lot from the likes of this.

A techno tune with a very nice beat. I don't really know where Grinava is, but I'm sure it has some significance in this song. It starts out soft, with a "zap" sample playing quietly, then brings in the techno synths at :12 and starts bringing in the beat at :25, and at :40 the rest of the drums and hihats come in, and a couple more techno synths are added here and there. There are a couple softer parts throughout, but they are done very well. I really like this song a lot, and I'm sure you will too. :) Technically, there's not really much to say. No panning or effects are used at all. The samples are all good quality, and used well. Not really any complaints in the technical area, but maybe some panning or effects could have been added to make the song a bit better. Overall, however, it's a very nice song.

A nice, simple trance song. Nothing special, but I enjoy simplicity now and then. The song isn't too repetative, but the changes mostly come from the melody being played by different instruments. Drums are added in here and there, which pick up the song after some slow parts. The song isn't insanely great, but this guy hasn't been tracking that long. It's a very nice song despite that. Only 6 instruments in this module, and 28 tracks to put them all in... Needess to say, not all of them are used. No panning or effects to speak of, but the volume is played around with in a few of the tracks. This isn't a technically exciting mod, but it makes for a good listen anyway.

First of all, let me say that this guy has only been tracking since the spring of 2002. I think this song is very good for only having tracked for 4 or 5 months. Or less. I admit that a couple of his previous songs aren't that great, but this song is actually pretty good. It's not too complicated, just a simple pop-like song, but it's catchy and nice to listen to. It has a nice beat, and although it's short, it loops well, which I like in short songs. All in all, it's not a GREAT song, but it's pretty good, and I think this guy could do pretty well at tracking in the future. Technically, it's not that great, but not bad. The samples are pretty good, but very techno sounding. There's no panning to speak of, either. It's not a technically complicated module, but it gets the job done. I don't see any real problems, but there could be some things added to make it a little more interesting.

A Touch of Spring... It very much describes this very relaxing ambient tune. It's not too long, only 2:19, but it doesn't really need to be. The song does what it needs to do in that time, and basically what it needs to do is be simple and relaxing... Sorry I'm not saying much, but there's not much to say about such a short, simple song... so... just download it, because it's good. :) It's what I've come to expect from Purple Motion. Not a lot of samples, but good ones. As it says in the sample text, "I tried to make this song as much stereo as possible." And it certainly is, which gives a nice feel to the already relaxing ambient tune. Overall, very well put together, and it won't disappoint Purple Motion fans.
