Title: two minuts of fear
Filename: 2_tmt.xm
Posted Sun 30th May 1999
Rated 7 / 10
This is an interesting idea, two minutes of fear is an exactly 2 minutes long song thought to be just that, two minutes of fear. To me, it's only partially successful. The entire first minute sounds more like a minute of sadness than a minute of fear. A nice blendin of the vocals here... but the screams more ruin the mood than add to it. The volume of the drums in the middle of the song is a bit loud, almost covering the rest of the music. Continuing thunder was a good touch in the overall feeling of the song.

Flutes, piano, various synth strings and a mellow drumtrack carry this song and make all its 5 minutes of music worth listening to. There is a certain sadness in the feeling of the song, but also a bit of triumpf. In "One fine day...", the author seems to have found the perfect blend between low drums and a light piano track. A very interesting and unusual mix of samples that all have a high quality. Even though the main theme of the music stays the same throughout the song, it's varied enough to keep your interest. Really good music if you like dark, slightly sad music.

High Adventure starts with a wonderful piano intro and then escalates into a techno style with a fast beat, a nice bass track, and some piano. The further along the song, the more feeling comes along, and variations make the entire 3:15 song really interesting to listen to. This song has some great piano and string samples, used in a skillful way. The drums have been handled fine, even if they sound a bit high at places. The most noticeable tech mistake in this song is the vocals that seem to almost start on top of each others. Other than that, a slightly abrupt volume slide on the strings in the end is the only complaint. Certainly worth your attention if you like techno, and defenitely if you like piano too.

0today8 is a rather slow atmospheric tune with some drumbeats. It shifts from being entirely ambient in some parts to being almost standard techno in others. Somehow the song feels like it's unfinished or suffering from lack of inspiration... Sample quality is ok, but this song suffers a bit from lack of imagination. There's a continuing use of the same samples and the same loops, through all the song, which is 5:20 long so you tire after a while. And what does the title mean?

This song was really hard to place... in the end it had to fall into the Fantasy cathegory. Large amounts of loud echoing drums give this song quite a bit of feeling. The sample quality is good, and the samples have been used in a good way. The only negative side of this song is the way it's used the lead track and guitar tracks, a way that makes it sound the same all the way through the 2:34 long song.

This is a song based on a good idea for a Fantasy-type tune. The intro is really cool, but the rest of the song suffers from poor tracking. The samples are of good quality, but in some places in the song, they're horribly out of tune. The drum tracks seem odd at some places but I couldn't really tell you why. The feeling i get is as if the drum tracks and the rest of the song were written separately and then put together at the last minute. Most of what makes the song bad is the detuned samples though, if it weren't for that, this tune could've been really good.

OK, it's just a remix... but hell, this is one monotonous tune if any. 5:40 of the exact same beat, again and again and again. Sample quality is OK, used in an ok way... but there a certain lack of something in this song. Variations would be nice. Maybe some changes would do this song good. Or perhaps some variations... Oh did i mention some variations may be good?

This is a nice, varied, techno tune. The intro is really cool, leading up to the final "Hello, listen to me". After that, the song breaks off into a not-so-good bass line for a while, before continuing on. Sample quality is good, effects have been well used. Only real complaint I can make is that some parts of the song sound a bit "empty" with only one sound for a long time.

A nice techno tune, suffers from a bit of lack of imagination. The result is a well-made song, nice to listen to in the background, but nothing you listen to and admire the artwork. The sample quality is rather good, except for one loop that clicks some. The intro is a very fine example of the good sides of this song, but it more or less loses it when nothing new appears.

"Pure" is a very well-composed piano tune, with some light flute tracks in a few places. All in all, it's a good song, but it needs something more. The flute was a good beginning, but it sound's a bit empty even with that. Probably, the song would sound entirely different with some bigger piano samples. Now the song sound like it's being played on the small keyboard at home, instead of, as it should be for a piano tune, a grand piano. There's nothing wrong with the sample quality, but they just don't reach the height the song needs. Also, we very much appreciate the author's decition not to include the grotesque drums.

This song has a cool dark intro, breaking off into the faster techno part. In a way, it feels like the ending comes too early, the song's only 2:43 long. The lead track sounds really good, once it gets into the song, but too bad it's over so soon. The sample quality is rather high, and they've been used in a good way, except maybe a few tone changes in the beginning that sound a bit off. Basicly, what this song needed was a bit more time to grow and some variations in that.

A pretty good song in it's original form, written by Nene Cherry and Youssou N'Dour. The s3m transcription has several drawbacks, though. First and most obvious is the singing. The original 7 seconds was very much based on the singing, and of course none of the lyrics have made it to the mod. The samples are good overall, but some of the drums and strings seem to be a bit noisy. The lead instruments seem to have lost some of their strength, compared to the original version. The song ends suddenly and without a real ending, leaving some channels open with sound and giving the song an "unfinished" impression.

Wonderland is a soft piano ballade of the kind that can be really relaxing to the mind to listen to. If you like piano music, or just calm music, this is certainly a song for you. The quality of the piano samples is high, and in the entire song they're used in a good way. There are a few places where it sounds a bit odd, in a way that maybe it wouldn't have sounded if played on a real piano. Other than that, maybe some more instrument would have added something to the song.

Quite a nice ambient tune with some pretty good feeling in it. It's varied, and once it gets past the intro, it keeps your interest for the rest of the song. Some of the bass samples sound strange when they're taken to high, and some of the drum loops loop a bit oddly, but the sample quality is good.

Well here is a fine piece of piano music, starting off as a slow ballade and progressing into more rapid rythms before falling back. The amount of variation is good to keep you interested through the entire song. High sample quality and a skillful touch at using them gives this tune a nice sound. Only one tempo change sounds a bit odd, but we can live with that, can't we?

Now really, I'd expected better from 7th Fantasy than this... The song gives no real impression of being a thought-through work but rather something put together in some spare time while concentrating on something else. Sample quality is ok, the church bells are entirely untuned and sound horrible. The rest of the song sounds barely ok with some flutes just slightly off tone and the same drumbeat over and over again.

This is one really neat techno track, this really gets you along... My first impression was like "oh yes", and it more or less answered to those expectations. The song is full of variations, and subtle tracks. First few times you listen to it you keep hearing new things. Sample quality is high, and so is the handling of the samples.

This song certainly has some good passes, but it contains far too much empty space, pieces of just drums, and not a too great drumtrack at that (like the entire intro). First word that comes to my mind when listening to this is: "boring". Quite empty of variations, like listening to your microwave for 5 minutes maybe. I think what's needed is just plainly more work. A + for the neat vocals though.

Kinda nice techno beat song, lotsa drums and stuff. The song's a bit long, you tend to lose interest after you're about half the way through it. A bit more variations wouldn't hurt, but it's OK as it is too. If you like the drumbeat you're most certainly going to like the rest of the song too. Mostly good sample quality, too.

This is the kind of take-a-pattern-repeat-and-add song that gives you a headache. Simply, the author has taken the bass line, repeated it and more or less added other stuff. Didn't turn out too well. The samples are of OK quality. Most of the effects are pitch slides that sound pretty crappy. I wonder if the artist's leaving out his name and the song title was a safety precaution...

Great, an 8 channel .IT made to sound like a 4 channel .MOD ;) Now I don't know if that's the case but it certainly comes close. The bass intro could've been more exciting but the rest of the song makes up for that. Sound quality is rather good. Really short, lots of bass and synth sounds, and some piano. Not a really bad song, but it's too short to catch your interest. Not bad sample quality, and very basic samples at that. Some of them sound slightly off tune but that doens't matter too much. The entire file gives an unprofessional look, as it's not included any title, or artist name, and hardly any comments.

Ok, here's another composer with more inspiration than experience. The song starts off great, but it is soon painfully clear that a lack of skill has ruined the song. The sample quality is good except for the fact that the samples are horribly out of tune. Some parts of the song end up sounding like ghosts sang it. So... this artist just needs to get the hang of how to use the tracker (and how to tune the samples) and he'll be fine off doing good music.

This one is really good. The music is varied more than most other songs I've seen, starts a bit dark and then progresses into a faster-moving march to change several more time. Good sample quality overall, with a string sample sounding a bit odd and the kettle drums going too high so they sound weird. Other than that a fine piece of music.

This is not as much slightly dark as pitch black. This tune is very well-made, but it lacks the inspiration. Starts with the bass line and some drums, and then... nothing happens for the rest of the 4 minutes. Was a good beginning but could've been so much more. Not much to say, sample quality is high, everything's skillfully tracked, but nothing happens. The song really has no tech flaws.

I think this artist needs some more practice, to get the hang of the tracker and the harmony, and then he could probably produce real great works.

Something, yes. Bothersome, yes. Some parts of this tune are actually quite good, but it's ruined by a horrible start, and the fact that it's so long you've lost your interest after half the song. Maybe the point in it was to have distortion, but lots of these samples sound really just like static. That, combined with the crappy ending etc makes it not as good as it could've been. Anyone who ever tried probably knows how hard it is to get Metal and heavy guitars to sound right... but this has to be the one single best Metal mod i've ever heard. Too bad the artist hasn't left any clue whatsoever as to who he is! Sample quality is high, especially the bass drums and cymbals, who are very realistic and really high quality. The guitar samples have been used in a really good way. The lead quitar tend to sound a bit wimpy at times, but that doesn't lower the overall impression much. So, whoever did this... keep it up! Folk Metal..? Well thats certainly something unusual, and I really like the concept. All the little bleeps and plonks, flutes and soft stuff fitted in real nicely with the electric guitars. Guitars have always been hard to implement in modules. Here is one example of how it can be done in a really smooth way. Still doesn't sound quite like real metal guitars, but then again, who'd expected that? This one's certainly worth downloading.

Of the small things to notice, the drum track is very neat, and the sample quality is high. At least i think he hit the right notes sometimes, but I mean... the intro made me feel like i didn't want to hear the rest so... *ugh*. There are two types of samples in this song: 1. The type that sound too wimpy for a metallica song. 2. The type that sounds bad. Some parts sound ok... most parts don't. So get the CD instead... it's worth it.

Some dream music? Well that's a pretty accurate description. This is a pretty standard techno song, a bit slow but pretty cool. The piano track is really neat, and even thought that flute seems like it should need some more variations, the rest of the song is varied and well balanced. Maybe this is not anything revolutionary, but certainly worth listening to if you like the style. Really well performed track, the turns are excellent. The previously mentioned flute is almost too whacked up in effects, and in desperate need of some variations, but the rest of the song has been made in a consequently professional manner.
